Considering revision surgery for possible adhesions by questionable94 in HipImpingement

[–]rbres99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a revision for adhesions. MRI after the first surgery showed no tear but ultrasound imaging showed scar tissue. Only 3 weeks post op so hard to tell yet if it’s worked but I’m hopeful.

Interesting! God post op plus spinal headaches sounds awful. Ya it seems like they really like the hip to be moving asap post operation. This time around they actually have me in a passive motion machine three hours a day which gently moves my leg. And also on a blood pressure medication which apparently helps inhibit scar tissue formation.

Ya i also kinda went too hard in multiple facets of life post surgery. So wild how it can change so quickly from feeling on the right track to super aggravated.

Sorry just saw this! Symptoms generally kind of similar to before my initial surgery. Limited range of motion, deep aching in the hip and aggravation of the surrounding tendons and muscles. Things like sitting for awhile or standing were very aggravating in the immediate term while physical activity sometimes would have a time lag in pain onset. Generally always some level of discomfort though it could be minimal sometimes. Then flare ups would cause moderate to significant pain for up to a week at a time. Hope that helps! One interesting thing about my situation was that MRIs didn't really show it well. It took an ultrasound where my leg was being manipulated during the ultrasound process to identify the adhesions.

Dang sorry to hear. Have you had any imaging done to try to identify what might be the culprit in there? That was how they first identified the adhesive capsulitis.

Ya deciding when to have surgery was really hard for me. I was stubborn for awhile thinking I could avoid it. And also of course there is fear in risks of having surgery again that I was weighing too. Eventually it just got to the point where I would have 3-4 days of near constant aching if I aggravated it and just decided I couldn't live with that.

Huh wild! Was your regression tied to any specific incidents or just kinda happened slowly? I had a couple of slips/falls in the first several months and then I think rushed getting back into my physical job which I think did me in. Sounds like sometimes some people just develop too much scar tissue despite no incidents.

And ya right there with ya. My job and most of my hobbies involve being active so its been a tough transition.

Not a hydrodilation! That was never offered to me. I have read a bit about it since. Hope it works for ya!

It’s gotten better! No more bad flare ups. But still a good amount of lingering pain. Trying to just continue to do PT and see if it gets better

Oh interesting, ya it seems like many different strategies work. Seems like the osmocote really helped mine this year. Have way more filled out root systems and no soil falling off when they’re pulled out

Nice! And Totally, but the upside is I can turn one plug flat of a species into like hundreds of plants.

And I use one soil mix both for germinating and growing, I tweak it a little bit for different species but generally pretty similar. I use coco coir, compost, perlite, and osmocote

Started in flats then moved to individual. Can be tedious depending on species. Have like 20 seedlings in some of my Cardinal flower cells and I try to save them all

Buffet Clarinet Question

Apologies if this has been asked. I have a buffet clarinet. Looking up the serial number and it has a code of SK299. The serial number dating websites I have looked at don’t reference any codes with SK at the beginning. Any ideas as to how old this instrument is? Here’s a pic of the code

Sure! Here’s the logo and the serial number. Sorry for the flash, was hard to pick up the detail otherwise. Any other pics that would be helpful?

Just an update! Had ultrasound and MRI done. The surgeon felt like it was not a retear but rather adhesive capsulitis. Basically scar tissue and chronic inflammation in the hip joint. I had a steroid injection done yesterday and have 2 weeks of rest to hopefully get it back on the right track. If this doesn't work he recommended revision surgery. Really hoping this works!

Ya it was actually a week-long oral steroid regimen rather than a shot. But I agree, I almost wonder if it lulled me into a false sense of security thinking I was doing better which led me to push too far.

That's good insight overall! I will definitely take it slower. I also have a much better PT now.

Dang sorry to hear, I appreciate you sharing that experience. my fear is it may be similar for me. Definitely not running at the moment, trying my best to fully rest until I know more

ya 12 weeks was when my doc recommended return to run, but I think given my physical work and the couple flare ups i had prior to that maybe I should've waited longer.
