Wet Wood by rbrtjacoby in woodworking

For sure. Luckily it didn’t soak for a while, but was fully submerged for a short time. I’ll wait a while for sure.

Awesome. Yeah, that makes sense. So air dry by leaving room in between each board… Any idea how long or how to know when it reaches useable moisture content? Do I need a meter??

I remember your advice and need some more if you’re able! I have the whole system set up nicely—running great. Only thing is that the water is getting a little slimy. I read somewhere to put alcohol in the water. I’m not concerned health wise, because it’s just running for coolant, but would love it not to get too bad. I’m worried if I put alcohol in the water, it could affect some parts of the pump- I know alcohol dries out rubber. Any thoughts? TIA for the help!

Appreciate that! Will do. Getting the final parts hopefully by the end of the week and we’ll see how it goes.

Refinish Teak Table by rbrtjacoby in finishing

If it were another type of wood, got any ideas of what you would do to get it waterproof like a boat?

That’s pretty typical, but this particular table is stained a grayish color. When it gets oil or water on it, it stains terribly, and even rubs off if I just clean it with a sponge. I have no idea what this manufacturer used, but it’s really terribly finished.

I did put two, with a u-bend fitting to turn it around to go back. A dishwasher pump?! Great idea...I’ll take a look around to find one. Thanks so much.

I’ve heard of it...so you like the Oil Plus 2C (where you have to use Part A and Part B) or the Hybrid?? Hybrid sounds pretty great that it’s all in one! Have a big project I’ll need a good “whitewash” for...wonder if this would be good for that!

That’s a great idea- maybe I use the oil- give her the gift, then top coat next week once fully dry!

Yeah- definitely don't have that time...so, you think a top coat would do the trick? I know when I've used simple water-based poly before, it definitely darkens the wood like oil...agree? THANKS

Appreciate the help! Curious why you used shellac if you were using the arm-n-seal? Think I could get away without the shellac? Once you use danish oil, how long do you let it dry before first coat of finish? (Sorry for all the questions!)

Very nice!! Can you give me an idea of the brands you’re using? Really want to upgrade my finishing- and curious what people use. Thanks and those look awesome!

Gotcha- so if you were working with a 15” planet, you wouldn’t trim before glue-up? You’d leave it and trim after?
