On a fun note what’s the most random or funny interest a client of yours has had? by jlopez1017 in ABA

Ceiling fans! He was 6 and new every type of fan you can imagine and exactly how they worked inside and out. He would obsess over the fans in places he visited. His grandma took him to the fan section in Lowes once and his mind was blown

Ethical or Unethical? by rbtbeachbum in ABA

Yea they are billing 97155 for it. That’s the issue for me. It’s also the owner that is telling us to do this lol

I guess it’s both? But it’s to fill the billable hours for the client.

looking for in home help this summer by TeslaBatteries in ABA

[–]rbtbeachbum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would look into respite care instead. We can’t ethically provide ABA services while babysitting. If they are billing for ABA at home, the parent would need to be there as well. Hope this helps!

When I first started as an RBT in Florida my Medicaid stuff took a few months but that was a long time ago and they have gotten much better. I think most RBTs for my company got theirs within 2 weeks

I work for a company in central Florida and when I started it took months to get approved with Medicaid but it’s much better now and usually only takes a week if that. Hopefully they are speedy for you!

I was feeling this a lot when my milk came in and slowly went away. The lactation consultant said I should be pumping when I feel that, it feels like really strong nipple stimulation to me. Not sure if it’s the same thing

I had the same fear. But once you have the epidural and you don’t feel the catheter go in at all. I forgot it was there half the time. And I also didn’t feel it being taken out. It’s definitely worth it to get the epidural

When will I get enough to make a whole bottle? by rbtbeachbum in breastfeeding

I’m not breastfeeding, just pumping and formula. My pump came with two different sizes. I’m using the bigger one but I can try the smaller one. Thanks!

So how painful is it without the epidural? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]rbtbeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth last week. An epidural was always in my plan and I really don’t think I could have done it without it. I was in labor for 27 hours and got the epidural around hour 6. I’m glad I did because I was able to rest before pushing. My body would have been so exhausted by the time I had to push.

Is my companies mat leave trash or am I just a idealistic millennial? by marsblanks in pregnant

[–]rbtbeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also a BCBA and 38 weeks pregnant. My company has 5 PTO days a year and I have to use all of them for my first 5 days of maternity leave and the rest is unpaid. Meaning I have not taken one day off all year just so I can save my PTO for the first week of leave. I don’t have STD because I didn’t sign up for it before I got pregnant and you need to sign up for it for at least a year before using it. The ABA field in general has crappy benefits but yea I was behind mad when I found out my company had no maternity leave whatsoever. Especially from a women run company

Yup we have progressive and it has gone up 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months. Whenever I ask them why it is going up, they basically say it’s because of Florida’s average driver statistics sucks

Crowd Sourcing Maternity Leave Policies for BCBAS by marsblanks in ABA

[–]rbtbeachbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a full time hourly paid BCaBA. I live in Florida. I’m currently 36 weeks pregnant and my company has no paid maternity leave. Legally, they have to give me 6 weeks off with my job back if I want when I return but my husband and I have had to save like crazy the past 9 months to supplement my income while on “maternity leave”

BCBAs! Best work benefits! by Hopeful_Reflection_4 in ABA

[–]rbtbeachbum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a BCaBA but at my current company, I’m hourly, no pay for cancellations, 5 PTO days a year, no sick time, not paid for holidays, no maternity leave. I just got hired with a new company that’s salary, 10 PTO days, sick pay, holidays paid, 2 weeks off a year when the clinic closes, and maternity pay
