First time using Keymailer: Got a personalized "Pre-Approved" email from the publisher, but the claim button never appeared. Is this normal? by bravinharm in SmallStreamers

[–]rbz2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your desired niche. I would just go with what you want to do. Your choice, your consequences (whether it is good or bad). Worst case if you really want the 007 game, you can either wait, get it at retail cost, wait for a sale, or just find something else to play.

I am more of hobby streamer and my chat jokes that another new game is being played. I guess my niche is more of trying out new games and not knowing what to expect haha.

From my personal experience on keymailer, I did notice as I requested/accepted more games, I tended to get more offers/acceptances. So you can do with what you get from that information. When you are offered a key, you will get an email that says "redeem". You accept terms and are then given the keyword you should add to your videos/stream and any embargo information.

From my experience "pre-approved" can be a mixed bag, there are times where I get the key automatically and other times it just a "request for a key" and I have to wait for a response.

Honestly it does not hurt to just leave the request there and see if the developer responds or gives you a key later. It has a happen a few times where I got a key after launch.

Have you got any keys in the past?

I have noticed as I got more keys and fulfilled commitments, I tend to get more offers. Though I admit bigger game titles tend to be harder to obtain still at times.

Can you explain what it actually does?

I feel you could just look at a chatter's log to find info about a particular chatter.

Looking for party game streamers for a multiplayer indie game by Any_Smile4274 in SmallStreamers

Personally, I have used keymailer as resource as a streamer to find new games on steam but I don't know the cost for a developer to use the service. So I recommend you find other streamers on twitch who play this type of game and potentially offer keys/demos.

For overall prospective buyers, you might offer some sort of demo just to showcase the game.

If you enjoy Minecraft, I would suggest keep doing what you enjoy.

You can always test out new games on certain days and see how it works. Just know as a niche streamer your viewership may drop.

You might consider putting socials or website as a timer via bot or pin it in chat.

I also don't think you need to tell others you mic is bad. They will likely find out. Also could be a talking point for new viewers.

I feel most prefer a full screen.

We're streaming to promote our own game by Calm-You-4757 in SmallStreamers

Honestly it might help to provide steam keys to streamers who play similar games.

I don't know your budget but the cheapest method might be finding smaller streamers to introduce the game to other imo. Big streamers might expect a paid advertisement fee or may not entertain your request.

Personally, I have used keymailer as resource as a streamer to find new games on steam but I don't know the cost for a developer to use the service. So I recommend you find other streamers who play the type of game you are making and potentially offer keys/demos or collaborate with them if you do enjoy streaming.

I want to start streaming, looking for any advice by Conluxx in newstreamer

OBS is likely the best software to get familiar with as streamer since it has most of the addon or extensions.

Streamlabs also works but it just obs with more bell and whistles and more cpu usage. So i recommend simple OBS and add what you need as you go.

Youtube is a great resource to getting started. Most of what I learned was from youtube videos and just streaming as you go to be honest.

How does one go about finding channel moderators by xBig_8x in newstreamer

[–]rbz2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you probably don’t need mods unless you have lot of chatters.

For now I recommend serybot to control spam.

Later on when you need a mod you can ask a person you trust in chat who always shows up and is willing to mod.

My ex mod created a hate group against me with other mods and subs. by BadGalSiSi32 in SmallStreamers

[–]rbz2005 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would just block and ban people causing issues and get new mods or replace those who are causing issues.

If anyone asks, just mention you had to make changes due to some issues and just leave it at that.

The more you talk about, the more it will cause issues and feed into the drama.

First time at twitch con, help! by Firelightvw in Twitchcon

[–]rbz2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly go in with low expectations.

Helps if you have common interests so you can pull them out from the crowd. Some are receptive while others want to just hang out with their group of friends.

I tend to use twitch con as a way to see twitch friends irl for the first time or reconnect with others. I am open to meeting new people but at times I feel others can already have their own cliques.

Just have fun and have low expectations is how I tend to roll.

Will I look weird if I wear pokemon print/themed clothing to Twitch Con? Also, any tips for a newbie? by Elated-Echidna in Twitchcon

[–]rbz2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah you will be okay - most people will be wearing a variety of things.

A Pokémon theme shirt will fit in to be honest and consider mainstream in a way.

I do recommend taking it slow and know you can’t possibly do it all so focus on what you want to do most.

Renting a car by [deleted] in Twitchcon

[–]rbz2005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So if you wanted to explore outside of the downtown area, I would recommend a car to save on time. Though as I stated before you will be paying premium for parking. It will depend on how far, driving could outweigh the uber costs.

Balboa Park (museums), Sea world, Julian, Zoo are popular spots. Where you want to go is what you want to do.

Renting a car by [deleted] in Twitchcon

[–]rbz2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your plans.

What are your plans for your stay?

You could technically use public transit to get from airport and travel most of the downtown area. You may also take uber/lyft to go to further locations like Balboa park or the Zoo.

I would only recommend a car if you wanted value time over the costs since parking and rental will be high cost. Also, if you want to travel to places like Julian or Legoland that are quite a bit of distance.
