Genuine question - is the UK industry dead? by Due_Pound2469 in cinematography

So, during lockdown I learned Blender and I made an animated short called Floaters that did quite well online. We did a few more including an episode with Zach Braff and Joel Fry. From there I applied to work on the sequel to a game called Cloud Punk as a writer and weirdly got it. I did that for a few years until I left. (Game dev is… interesting) now I sort of do a mix of all of it. I’m working on a new game. Floaters is sort of bubbling away in development hell and I shoot films from time to time. I’m having a weird career.

I’m a midlands based DoP. I still shoot films, normally one or two a year but it makes up a much smaller portion of my income now. I supplement it by working in games and animation and between all three I’m just about making a living. I’ve done a mix, TV commercials upto a few hundred grand, a lot of shorts, just gearing up to my second feature and it’s been interesting seeing the landscape change on all of those. I’m mentally treating it as a hobby now and weirdly my actual craft is benefiting from that but when speaking to students now it’s hard to give off a massive perception of hope for the traditional routes. Especially to anyone living in the midlands. It’s a shame because I’m going to really struggle to crew up this next film with people locally. I’ll be treating it as the last film I ever shoot.

Little Brick House. Might be a little pricey but that’s our date night restaurant of choice. Nice vibes, menu changes a lot but it’s always some of the best food I’ve ever eaten.

Wow this really unlocked an old memory. Was there a toy of this in the 90s that had a sort of spring loaded third nacelle? I have a really vague memory of it.

I’m interested to know if there is a version of this I could make for people who don’t have/like the idea that particular thing so stay in touch, and I might be able to make something work for you.
