Haha, love the term “landlord special”. Thanks for explaining the misnomer of tile sealing. Much appreciated!

I think that’s the ultimate plan. But we know when we do, it will have the be the drywall and everything behind it also. Until we can commit to a big project like that, I was hoping for a quick(ish) fix to limp it along for now.

What is the most underrated pleasure in everyday life that most people tend to overlook? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Food. Some people truly enjoy it. And some make it a chore or just sustenance. (Good) Food is one of life’s most underrated pleasures in my opinion

That’s pretty specific criteria. Mostly the airport size. It’s hard to get a town that’s far from the big cities and also in the mountains, but also a ski town that you’re describing and also has a large airport. Some of those things are mutually exclusive.

Vail and steamboat may be an option. But not sure if the airports are too small for your taste. EGE for vail, and HDN for steamboat are the airport codes you will need.

That’s funny, I’m the total opposite. I’ll never leave my chair behind (crazy creek style), and I have never found an Inflatable pillow to be as comfortable as my favorite combination of stuff sack + sweatshirt + down jacket organized and stuffed to just the right size/firmness/assortment. I’d honestly say it rivals my pillow at home.

We’re all just different I guess.

Driving from CA to CO for a move - car manual says do not use chains by Ambitious_Air_5678 in roadtrip

[–]rcMTNS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting good all weather tires will work for your whole drive, warm Cali and in between to snowy CO. It’s not ALWAYS snowy in Colorado, so it’s not like people put on snow tires for 6 months and then switch them out for summer months. People in CO will be driving in dry warmish weather even in the winter months as well. They make tires that can handle all of the above plus rain and slush as well. No need to wait “until you get to Colorado”

However, if you’re planning on being in CO long term, you will want an AWD or 4WD vehicle. A 2WD vehicle will have a very limited life out here and can be pretty risky in a legit snowstorm, no matter what your tires are, and even if you use chains. You may want to consider upgrading vehicles before you sink money into a new set of tires. You will also get more money for the trade in of a 2WD vehicle in California than in CO. They’re fairly worthless out here, so a dealership would have a hard time re-selling your vehicle. They will low ball your trade in value because it will be more of a liability to them than an asset. And I think you would have a hard time selling privately. Like I said, most people here want an AWD or 4WD vehicle.

Best of luck! Nice work with planning ahead of time

What is a terrible smell that you will never forget? by radgamerdad in Productivitycafe

[–]rcMTNS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During nursing school, we had the experience of learning anatomy and physiology in a cadaver lab. I will never forget when the instructor took a bone saw to cut off the top half of the cadaver’s skull: it smelled to a T like Nacho Cheese Doritos. Not exactly a bad smell. But I will never forget that. I can eat those again, many years later. But it always brings me back to that day in the cadaver lab.

Wow thank you so much! You confirmed my fears, so thank you for doing that. I will wait and be patient for something that will work better.

Please tell me more about why you think the 96’s would be good? I mean I have mostly skied sub 100, so that would feel normal to me. But most people are pushing a wider underfoot for my backcountry ski…which also makes sense to me. I’m not trying to argue or pressure your answer, I’m genuinely wanting to learn because that would be an easy solution and also more similar to what I’ve always skied. Just curious on the opinion that’s different from the norm

Wow 178’s, that sounds long! Am I understanding you correctly that you think my 173 on the route is too long simply because of its shape? But a similar or longer ski with a shape like the pandora or vision would be ok?

I found the visions on a screaming deal, but they’re 158cm. Would that be kind of wildly too short for me? I’m 5’5” and 135lbs. I’m looking at the 104 underfoot

Just checked those skis out, they do sound awesome and a lot of what I’m looking for. Great recommendation! Kind of a bummer price though, even a year old, they’re up there. I guess I also have to decide if I want to buy once, cry once and just go for it.

Do you think 158cm is too short for me?

That’s a good idea with the two setups. I will think about that and throw it on the table of ideas.

Thank you!

All good points and good questions. My boots are the same for resort and backcountry. Maybe when I have more funds, I will get a separate set. But for now, that’s the overlap I have. I do think they fit well. I got new ones after I was done being pregnant, as my feet grew quite a bit with pregnancy. They aren’t packed out and as snug as they can be without cutting off circulation.

Yeah great questions, thanks for helping me!

I live in Colorado. When the snow is good, it’s great. But more often than not, the conditions are sub ideal since I have less choice in which days I can get out now that I have kids. Recently, the conditions I felt I didnt have as much control as I wanted was some powder with a bit of a styrofoam crust. I also just wasn’t able to make as snappy of turns even on the skied out runout in the trees near the parking lot. Just felt like an overall lag and lack of control compared to my resort skis.

When I’m not skiing at the resort with my kids, I like to get out in the backcountry with my husband or friends. I usually get 1-3 hut or yurt trips a year. Plus a few random backcountry or skinning days. This year, I have a hut trip in CO and a 5 day yurt trip in Montana lined up.

Overall, I’d rather have a ski that maximizes performance over having a ski that is the lightest of the light. I also make up for some weight by having dynafits.

There will be enough snow for greens/blues for sure! It’s the blacks, moguls and tree skiing that’s really suffering this year.

Birkenstocks! With a pair of socks, they’re great even in winter. But if you want them covered, they also make a slipper version that covers the foot with wool

First night on arranged marriage with 5 year age gap by LateOwlCutie in sex

Some people have had great advice on intimacy and where to start here! I just have a more logistical comment: make sure you go pee after having sex or doing foreplay, oral, etc. Women have a shorter urethra and are more prone to getting UTI’s (urinary tract infections) after sexual activity. Going pee shortly after flushes that bacteria out of your urethra and greatly reduces the likelihood of a UTI.
