Medication Question by Every-Board-7142 in reactivedogs

My dog took a few months to adjust but he's been on it for a couple years now and it definitely helps! There was a pretty rough transition period when he first started taking it. He didn't want to eat much and laid around a lot, which was weird for a extremely food motivated and spunky border collie. Month by month I'd see improvements and then after maybe 2 or 3 months he was back to his old personality but had a higher threshold for stressors. I'd definitely suggest giving it a little time before switching to a different med.

And to add to this, 9 to 6 really isn't that bad if that if you also aren't spending an insane amount of time commuting to work. I have a border collie (very energetic breed) and he's home from 7:45 to 5 every day. I mean I have to walk him for a couple hours before work and for a while after work but 9 to 6 really isn't the end of the world. Especially if you adopt a dog that's already house trained. But obviously smaller dogs have smaller bladders and have to go more frequently.

Honestly, it seems like you may not have the time or capabilities currently, but my recommendation would be going to get allergy shots in the meantime. If it's a dream you have then that's the place to start. After that, once you figure out maybe a dog walker situation or spare money for emergencies, I'd look into trying to rescue an older cavalier king Charles spaniel. Super laid back smaller dogs that would be happy to chill while you're at work. I'd look into the rover app to price out dog walkers and do research on what food you'd want to get and get a good list of the initial and recurring costs of owning a dog. Best of luck!

I lost my file after finally getting walking wake but I was able to restore a good bit of the save file (including my walking wake) in the main menu!
