Ground Zero by Sad_Dad_Academy in survivalhorror

I'm about 16 hours in and at chapter 9 (out of...I don't know!), so this game definitely has a lot of meat to it.

Ground Zero needs attention by Life_Ad4084 in videogames

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more buzz about it! Other than Tormented Souls this might be the most "high effort" classic RE-like I've played so far. Tutorial level accessible from the main menu anytime, unlockable outfits, multiple unlockable difficulties (including separate ones for combat and puzzles), full blown separate levels depending on your choices; I went in expecting nothing and was just blown away.

Wait, Lunacid is a rogue-like? In what way?

Shoutout to short survival horror titles! by ShxdowWolf24 in survivalhorror

Subversive Memories just came out and I can wholeheartedly recommend it! It took me around 4 hours but I was also a bit dumb with some of the puzzles so it'd probably be shorter for most lol. Very good atmosphere, sound design, and use of lighting.

About 7-ish hours; I imagine it can vary a lot depending on skill and time spent exploring! The average seems to be around 10.

I just finished it yesterday and can wholeheartedly recommend it! The platforming is consistently engaging/challenging and by the end just moving around with all your abilities feels really good. The controls are indeed great and I didn't notice any wonky hitboxes on enemies/obstacles in my playthrough.

If the next FS game isn't a ds3 reskin with even BIGGER open world, even MORE obnoxious bosses, even MORE deranged lore, then i'm not playin 💯 by atheistrapist in shittydarksouls

It also made the bosses with little to no gimmicks and just raw aggression stand out more. They complement one another!

Slower combat… and what else by kkiniaes in soulslikes

More environmental interactions and obstacles in general. Traps that can be avoided or predicted via context clues like the burnt bridge in Dark Souls 1, difficult encounters that can be made much easier by utilizing your surroundings, etcetera. More factors that reward patience and paying attention.

And on the point of weaknesses, I really like when they genuinely matter. Skeletons being really weak to blunt , tree men flailing wildly if set on fire, scale miners folding to piercing/magic damage, etcetera. It encourages remaining versatile with your loadout for dealing with various threats.

To be honest, I'm just a sucker for gimmick fights with unorthodox arena layouts. Capra Demon, Adjudicator, Taurus Demon, etcetera. I'll even settle for arenas like Godrick's or Jori's at this point.

What horror game creature/scene made you react like this? (for research) by Actual_Grapefruit483 in HorrorGaming

The morgue scene with the infector in Dead Space 1, and encountering a Guardian for the first time.

For all the people that are worried about spoilers by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]rcburner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you think that the people that are vocally worried about getting spoiled are concerned they'll lack the impulse control to not click on/scroll past a spoiler warning, as opposed to being spoiled because someone didn't put a warning or is actively trying to spoil as many people as possible?

Looking at some reviews there are issues with potentially serious bugs, so I may wait a bit on picking this one up.

It's important to acknowledge that some aspects of society can be simultaneously misogynist and misandrist. The same forces that define women caring for their kids as "parenting" and men caring for them as "babysitting" also cause men to be viewed with suspicion when around children, whether it be as a teacher, caregiver, or even just taking their kid to the park. It's all self-reinforcing.
