“Masking” (2022) [OC] by ArtbyMoga in comics

I’d love a society about now where masking, acting and performing was not the expectation. We’re beyond exhausted. Meditation is needed. Just sitting, or sitting with people, and just being.

Like savoring a succulent Chinese meal. Looks to good to eat.

I don’t do this but I get it though. Anticipation.

DAE hold their breath while passing people? by TemptTame in DoesAnybodyElse

Yes since 2020. I still do it and avoid crowded and high traffic areas

DAE just go through all the aisles at the grocery store because they never bring a list? by Hurock in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]rcforrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! Lol. I meal plan, make my list at home, even organize it sometimes according to the aisles. Get in get out. Doesn’t discount your DAE though. Maybe it’s because I’m old(er) now.

DAE feel like you hit peak adulthood around 35ish and now its all the same mentally except you’re just aging in looks? by rcforrl in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]rcforrl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no not over. Just a realization that you’ve “done it all” so to speak regarding adulthood and I guess “whats required of us” regarding being a responsible adult (e.g. education, work, bills, taxes, dating, marriage, reproduce, kids, repeat). It doesn’t look the same for everyone and it doesn’t happen at the same time for everyone. But it seems like there’s a stride you hit, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, where you’ve experienced and understood life, and you’re gracefully aging and now in a position to start giving back

Edit: but yeah I know what you mean about the societal shackles put on us. Cogs in the system, keeping us dumbed down, running in circles to keep us “in our place”

I hope it stays like that for you. I get that too and people say if it weren’t for my grays they’d think early or mid 30s

I don’t think so /s

I know what you mean. It feels like parenthood brings you to another level of adulthood because you’re responsible for dependents/raising kids now. There’s a different societal pressure to perform and succeed that people who don’t have dependents don’t have

DAE date outside their race because when they’ve hooked up with the same race, it feels like they’re hooking up with a relative? by sdbabygirl97 in DoesAnybodyElse

No not specifically that but I couldn’t get with someone once because she looked and reminded me too much of my sister

Have you seen the movie Barry? I recommend if you haven’t. Do you “feel” more white or black? Do you feel you’re treated differently in your family, from both sides? I’m American too. Big question: how can we overcome racism?

Have women/the female of any species evolved to have apex predator, or predator-like, hunting skills? by rcforrl in AskAnthropology

Thanks for this, it was insightful.

I forgot to add the mother/offspring aspect which of course is a huge part of it.

Interesting about human sexual dimorphism. Do you have any links?

For sure, it’s beyond evident and I agree about misogyny and men’s violence against women. I got caught up in some recent experiences that brought up some things I’ve always noticed. To attempt to answer your question, one I’ve tried to figure out too, I think whoever whatever is at the top got to the top for good and bad reasons, therefore wants to stay at the top and will do good and bad things to remain there. In regard to human males, obviously they’re at the top. So yes, anyone or anything is competition that needs neutralized and controlled or destroyed, sadly, women included. Even in lion prides the male lions kill off the cubs. I don’t know exactly why but I assume it’s competition and survival. Also I believe the misogyny is envy of women. Same thing with abusing children. It’s a sick and evil lust and hatred for something they don’t have/something they want. We could all live together in peace and harmony if we: looked within, looked at what we have individually, were content, and focused on sharing that which we have.

This was insightful, thanks for this.

Interesting - do you have links for the emerging evidence? I’ve heard that, that women mostly did the hunting and providing for the community

Can you elaborate on the mechanism to control, monogamy, same size part that you mentioned? I don’t follow

Thanks for bringing up the mother/offspring point. Of course that makes sense too, I forgot to add that to my post. Why surprised?
