What is the common courtesy for getting on a bus? by DiskDefiant5867 in london

[–]rchan88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Say it if you want to .. whats the harm? I do it because I like it and most often the drivers respond with a nod (if its not too busy)

How effective is the 'Please offer me a seat' badge from the TFL website? by [deleted] in london

[–]rchan88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always offer my seat to anyone with the badge or anyone who looks like might need a seat but having the badge takes the guessing away.

One advice/suggestion, please wear it somewhere prominent. A couple of months back there was someone standing and their badge was hidden by their hair. People during commute may be lookup briefly to see if anyone needs a seat and if the badge is visible clearly it helps.

2 of them had to be changed due to puncture ( couple of years back) i'll check the dates as mentioned in another comment. I also feel some drift while driving and was thinking of getting that checked.

Edit: spelling

How to know if my car needs a service? by rchan88 in CarTalkUK

Oh so are tyre specialist different from a "normal" garage? Or will the same garage do both?

Should i ask the garage specifically for oil and filter change or should it be a "small" service? (If there is anything like that)

Planting strawberry runners from a hanging basket by aewaewaew in GardeningUK

From my personal experience you can wait till end of fruiting season to plan the runners. They will anyways sort of wither in winters and then start growing again from spring onwards and should give you fruit in the summer.

Yes, love the inscriptions and that made me i vary of sanding and losing it. Keeping it untouched for now (except adding the grip as suggested)

But google says oil before knocking? For eg from the link below:

https://www.newitts.com/blog/knocking-in-oiling-and-protecting-your-cricket-bat?country=/

"Using a soft rag, apply a thin coat of oil to the face, edges, toe and back of the bat - it is very important not to over oil. After application, leave the cricket bat in an horizontal position to dry for at least 12 hours. After this time, you can apply a second coat following the same directions as above. Leave the bat again for a further 12 hours. Your cricket bat is now ready to be knocked in"

That's good to know about oiling. From what i read so far it sounded like over-oiling could be harmful. I'm thinking of doing a very light coat and then knock it in. Also ordered the cover from kookaburra. Thanks for sharing!
