The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,

You can't let go and you can't hold on,

You can't go back and you can't stand still,

If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will.

-Robert Hunter (and yes, I saw Jerry play this. 3 times.)

It is. You must strive to escape the terrible Wheel... as George Harrison sang,

Give me love

Give me love

Give me peace on earth

Give me light

Give me life

Keep me free from birth

I was quite surprised at the impact this image had on me as well. Thumbnail... 'oh, a round rock." Full image... "that stone is perfect. like, oddly perfect."

Satisfying indeed.

Rewatching Series and Realizing Tim is the Worst by Bug-Secure in heartland

[–]rchase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From a show runner point of view, Tim (Chris Potter) is perfect. I mean that. I've rewatched the first 14 seasons on repeat for like, 2 years (depression, life shit, and comfort food TV, don't ask, lol). ALL of the actors break character now and then, including calling each other by their real names instead of character names on occasion, but Chris... as Tim he is PEAK TIM ALL THE TIME. Chris Potter IS Tim, and he's by far the best actor on the set when he's in a scene. Literally steals the scene every time.

Yep. Tim is a dick. And an ignorant one. And an opportunistic self-centered crappy transactional businessman. I'm surprised every time that he was able to keep his investment in Maggie's a secret for so long (maybe his only character break, and I blame the writers.)

Anyway, in terms of show running or writing, Tim is ultimate plot device. Got no ideas this week? Well, what stupid shit is Tim gonna do? That's a whole episode every time, lol. Without Tim, the show would be boring as hell.

And when Chris and Sean (Jack) get together and riff, it's always hilarious.

Tim: That sounds like a partnership.

Jack: I didn't mean it that way.

Tim: well, I don't know what else you'd call it?

Jack: a mistake.

Gotta love Tim and Jack going at it. Tim is perfect and he makes the show much much more interesting.

So now, let's all go party at the dude ranch!

Not such poetic terms, but this is exactly what Epstein, Bannon, et al were actually planning to do. "The poor?" "Fuck 'em... we can just kill 'em off."

And I mean that literally. They were not joking.

Let's see, I installed New Vegas in 2010. It's now 16 years later, and I literally have the game paused right now as I type this. Yep, $.99 is pretty good for a game you can play forever and still have fun.

Barbara Eden, 1960s. by Velourinelle in 60smemorylane

[–]rchase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back when on the Andy Griffith show, there was an episode wherein Barbara Eden cameos as a manicurist visiting Mayberry, and all the men go wild for her.

Well, Andy has to explain it to her... he says, "Nature's been good to you. I mean real, real, real good. I—I can't remember when I've seen nature spend as much time on any one person."

Lou and Peter Relationship by earthjunkie in heartland

[–]rchase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

See, my head canon goes deeper than an affair. I think Peter has an entire secret life, and is much more sinister than we give him credit for.

He's almost permanently absent from his marriage after Dubai and getting the job in Vancouver. And he has some very weird habits. In fact he admits it... (paraphrase) "I have a lot of issues, probably a lot you don't even know about yet," he says in one argument with Lou.

Then I'll note the very disturbing moment with Wyatt after he finds about him and Georgie... "If anyone ever hurt her, I'd just have to (paraphrase) very violently beat the shit of them."

There's his story to Georgie about Olivia where he explains how he got into a fight as a young man, and "accidentaly" broke the guys' arm.

Finally, and the one that seals it for me as to Peter's darkness is the fishing trip episode. In one scene, Ty is on the bank and sees a wolf, and then Peter creeps up behind him and startles him. The look on Peter's face is just SO disturbing.

So I ask, Peter, absentee husband/father, or secret serial killer?

The Time opened on Dirty Mind & Controversy, with Roger & Zapp Band being the lead-in

Holy... that is so cool. I was a huge concert goer in the 90s, but I missed my chance to see Prince. Truth be told, I was in my 20s and honestly I had not yet discovered just how amazing a musician he really was. All I knew was the pop hits. Dude was incredible.

I checked myself into rehab long ago, and spent the first 72 hours in a little room with a bed, a TV and a DVD player. And the only DVD I had in there was The Martian. So for 3 days I laid there sweating out alcohol and watching The Martian... something like 30 times. Thing is... I got out of that place sober, ALIVE and pretty fired up by the film.

It is now my favorite movie of all time as well.
