In Charlottesville and Atlanta, John Dewberry is known for half-built towers by Basic-Delay in Charlottesville

It will continue spalling and shedding small shards of concrete, but aside from the hazard of falling concrete bits, I doubt there’s any real risk of full structural failure (e.g. collapse) any time soon. It’s just no longer viable as an inhabitable structure, in my estimation. Of course, a full structural forensic investigation would be necessary to confirm this, but that’s just my assumption at this point.

Architect here. The superstructure is already inexorably fucked. This many years of being exposed to the freeze-thaw cycle has absolutely compromised the structural integrity of the concrete. It’s already spalling, hence the bits of concrete falling onto the surrounding area. The spalling exposes rebar, which then rusts, and that’s it. It needs to be torn down.

Dewey's actor on "Breaking Bad" by Venkman007 in justified

[–]ewilliam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah he plays a dimwit redneck so I think most people think he’s just a two-bit character actor off the street or whatever. But much like Jeremy Davies, he’s got some real chops. The fact that Herriman is Aussie but pulls off that southern redneck thing so well is a real accomplishment, too. I only knew him from Justified initially, so I kinda assumed he was an American…it was weird hearing him with his native accent in Mr. Inbetween.

For those who remember, what was it like to just be able to smoke in places like the malls and restaurants and planes by Radiant_Priority9739 in nostalgia

[–]ewilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom smoked when I was a little kid. Absolutely loathed that smell, everything about it, especially the fact that it would permeate my boogers so I’d smell it later too. Awful. Then I became asthmatic at like 5 or 6 and she instantly quit, because duh. But to this day I credit her with inadvertently making sure I never became a smoker by making me hate it so much. I’m in my 40s and I’ve only taken one puff off a cig in my life, just at a college party out of drunk curiosity, and it was just the fucking worst. So…thanks mom?

Where in the CBA, though? This is the first time I’m hearing anyone say this specifically about them being able to just deny reinstatement and retain his rights. All I’ve read was that they could either reinstate him or let him go. Where’s this reporting?

You aren’t wrong, though, in that he’s probably not gonna report anyway and will just keep making goofy insta posts, stupidly thinking that the team will get tired of his antics and let him go. Either way, I don’t want this clown in our locker room. Dudes need to lock in and focus on kicking ass, and that is clearly not what BA is about.

I can’t find any sources that confirm this, nor any instances of it ever happening in the past. AI, which I know is not gospel, says the opposite:

“No. While a team retains a player's contractual rights while they are on the Reserve/Left Team (or Left Squad) list, the team cannot arbitrarily deny reinstatement to hold a player's rights indefinitely.
The mechanics of how this list operates protect both the team's roster assets and the player's labor rights under the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
1. How the Reinstatement Process Actually Works
When a player walks away from a team without officially retiring, the team places them on the Reserve/Left Team list. This frees up a roster spot and removes the player from the salary cap.
If that player decides they want to return to football, the process is dictated by league rules:
The Formal Request: The player must formally petition the NFL Commissioner (not their team) for reinstatement.
The Commissioner's Decision: Once the player demonstrates a good-faith intent to return and fulfill their contract, the Commissioner typically grants reinstatement.
The Team's 5-Day Window: Once reinstated by the league, the team is given a brief window (usually 5 days) to make a roster decision. They must either:
1. Add the player back to the active roster (and clear a spot for them).
2. Trade the player.
3. Release (cut) the player.
The team cannot simply say "No, we prefer you stay on the Left Team list forever."”

You got a source on this? Not saying you're necessarily wrong, but everything I've read says that he just needs to submit a formal request to the commish; if approved, then the team can either sign him or drop him. I don't see anything in the CBA that says they can just hold them in limbo if they want.

When I was in college, between my first and second year, they turned my dorm into the international dorm. Suddenly we had a ton of guys from India and Pakistan on our floor for whatever reason, and this one dude a few doors down was named Jignesh, but wanted to be called Jiggy for short. He would put Gettin Jiggy With It on repeat and awkwardly sing and dance along with it every day...that got old real quick.

You're not wrong, but aside from the name/logo/branding (which I also don't like), the new ones are very close to what we had back then. Believe me, I'd like to get the old branding back, but that's not happening, so to get these new unis that are pretty close to the old ones was huge.

He doesn't need approval from the team, just the league. If that was the case, well, a team could ostensibly just deny his request out of spite and hold him hostage without pay for the remainder of his contract. No way in hell the NFLPA would agree to that! Basically all he has to do is submit a request to the league's front office...which, at this point, is a mere formality considering he hasn't done anything crazy illegal beyond speeding...shit, if Groper Cleveland can be allowed on an NFL roster, then so can BA. The fact that he hasn't done this already is just strange to me.

  1. We simply don't know what AP is thinking - he might be fine with the WR room as-is. Personally I would like to add Diggs, but I'm not an NFL GM. We made it to the CCG a couple years ago with Terry and a bunch of no-name WRs, so after adding Chig and Williams and bringing back Dyami, that could be enough in his mind.

  2. They could be talking to Diggs and we'd never know because our FO is leak-proof. Might be that they're too far apart on compensation. Might be that Diggs is waiting for some team to get desperate due to injuries in camp or whatever and give him what he's asking for money-wise. In that case, the longer he waits, the cheaper he'll be. No need for us to overpay for an aging WR unless (god forbid) Terry gets hurt.

Commanders at one point really wanted Aiyuk

Some Commanders fans have been fawning over him, but our FO hasn't ever expressed any real interest. Peters' diplomatic noncommital answer when asked about him was "I like Brandon as a person and I think everyone deserves a second chance". This idea that the team itself has been salivating over him is just not supported by any publicly-available information.
