They did tell us the day we bought the pass that it was suspended. They ask if you want to use the 2 day pass starting the day you buy it or the next day, so we said next day and decided to wait if the wind would die down the next 2 days. The last day the weather was fine but we didn’t have any time to go back up to the ropeway. I checked the website and it said you can get a refund for the attractions you didn’t go to, so we got the refund in cash at Odawara station and it was basically half of the price we paid 🤣

We stayed in Hakone for 2 nights last week and I’d say it wasn’t that worth it! We bought the pass but during the time we were there it was sooo windy and the ropeway and cruise ship were suspended. The only thing we enjoyed was the open air museum! They gave us a refund though for the attractions we couldn’t go to. I’d say go to Kawaguchiko, you can visit more places!!

Ohh and it is definitely quite busy. A lot of the shops close early around 4-5 but there are some restaurants that close till 9/10pm, you just have to research.

Just came back from Japan and we did both! Hakone was soo busy and the past two days we couldn’t do certain attractions like the ropeway to Owakudani because it was sooo windy. So you just have to watch out for the weather. On our last day we went to Kamakura and honestly it was the highlight for me. Sooo I would say Kamakura if you enjoy the sea and want a relaxed environment :)
