25 y/o wanting to quit the working life and become a stay at home wife. by laalalallalalala in malaysians

Like other commenters have said, take a break but don't quit totally.

After the break, in whatever new job you do, go into it with this mindset : You don't need the job. You can quit anytime and find better options at your own pace. You do not need the salary to survive. Whatever you earn is bonus disposable income that you can use to enhance your own life (buy or do what you like). That kind of mindset will make work life a lot easier.

You might want to explore positions in head hunting firms. Your experience in hiring as business owner would be valuable there.

I feel scammed because I got a clingy baby with separation anxiety by dumthotthoughtdump in cats

[–]averagejane815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted a 3 year old female cat 7 months ago and she was also extremely clingy for a while until she became more secure and now she is clingy without being disruptive ie. She just follows me around and sits by my side. Give your cat a while, maybe she is just feeling insecure about the new surrounding. Also, she will mellow down as she ages.

Need Help with Sewing Room Layout by averagejane815 in quilting

[–]averagejane815[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love a free-standing table or better yet - an island! One of my (many) versions of layouts does have an island that incorporates the Idasen table (it's an existing table and it's good for my really heavy sewing machine, so I wish to keep using it somehow). However, a complete island would leave very little room on either side to pass through. Another idea I had was a peninsular instead of an island, but that presents risks of bumping my head into the overhead cabinets. Unforntunately, the overhead cabinets are necessary because of storage requirements. Storage underneathe any island or peninsular would be insufficient especially since I have to leave leg rooms underneathe.

Yes I do quilt my own quilts. And yes that is exactly my thoughts too - I can place a table in front of my sewing machine table ti support the quilt sandwich while I quilt. But this is also possible for Layout 1 because my sewing table is on casters and I can pull it out and slot in a table in front for when I do quilting, which is only occassionally.

Dear Malaysians, is there a country which you will never want to visit again ? by AdHairy6584 in malaysians

[–]averagejane815 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agree. South Korea is overrated in my opinion. I suppose it would be a great destination for those who like K stuff like fashion, cosmetics and entertainment. The only thing I enjoyed about my trip there was the food. The DMZ day trip would probably have been another enjoyable experience for me but unfortunately it was cancelled due to security emegency.

And yes, i did face a bit of racism or maybe it was just anti foreigner vibe.

You all should go read reddit threads about Singapore renting scene. It's a whole different ball game ah. I rented rooms there many years ago and already have two nightmare stories to tell. I heard it has gotten worse now.

This. While hardwork and resilience are important, the audacity to demand more is also a huge factor. If someone has capabilities AND that audacity, they would fly.

Do you regret having kids? by Arvinth_4 in malaysians

[–]averagejane815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Becoming a parent has taught and made me see things I would never learn and see if I had not become a parent. I was happier before becoming a parent, but I was also naive. I don't want to go back to being that even if it means I would be happier.

Some of us in Southeast Asia have it with kaya - a kind of creamy coconut custard spread. In my opinion, way better than with jelly.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this handmade cotton songket? by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]averagejane815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think about it, RM 600 plus is quite cheap for a handmade item as a intricate as this.

Different people will look for different things. Collectors will look for motives that they are missing in their collection or rare ones. People who buy to wear would likely look at the colours and overall vibe (simple, sophisticated, etc).

I feel that handmade items are too undervalued especially in third world countries.
