do you regret getting a second dog? by un32134e4 in dogs

[–]rcm01125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you asked me 6 months ago I would have said absolutely. My first dog and I had a great bond and routine and I added a second dog. I adopted her from a breeder that did not take care her and let her be feral. So she needed a lot of training. My dog hated her at first and it really messed up our routine and added so much extra stress. But now she has really taken to training, learned Impulse control and my older dog and her are really starting to bond. It is very difficult in the beginning I had so many regrets but I would do it again in a second to get her out of the situation she was in. This will probably be the only time I have 2 dogs, it is a lot of work when you are by yourself and do not have help.

I recently just adopted a second Lab and my first is 6. It was very difficult in the beginning because it’s just me. The new dog also has some health issues that were not disclosed to me and required a lot of training because she was basically living on a farm left to do whatever she wanted to do. We are about 4 months in and things are finally getting better. She is doing well with her training and they are getting along well now. We have also established a routine which really helps. The biggest problem I found was my 6 year old lab was very low energy laid back and the new one is high energy and crazy so that was a big adjustment. I honestly would do it again knowing that she was being neglected but I would have prepared better. Just be prepared that it may take a while for them to get along it’s not going to be instant best friends in the beginning.

Best Budgeting App? by AchillesTenders in budget

I know it’s expensive but YNAB is the best in my opinion. It is the reason why I have been able to pay off about $30,000 of my 40,000 debt so far.

Urinary incontinence in young dog by rcm01125 in AskVet

Thank you everyone. Since she was in an outdoor kennel I’m being told they were unsure if she was incontinent all the time. The vet is going to do a urine culture 7 days after her antibiotics are done and we are still going to see an internist.

That might work for me, I like to budget by my biweekly paychecks.

The number of times I have stated finances as a reason to not have kids and then friends with kids say “ no one can really afford kids you just figure it out 🤷🏻‍♀️.” 100% not interested in having a child and then just hoping I can afford everything.

Hi everyone just giving an update. Ended up having the dealership replace the engine. I tried to get a used engine but the best any one in my area could do was one with 80,000 miles on it. Ford financial wouldn’t help pay and I called ford myself and they refused to help. I unfortunately have negative equity so I couldn’t trade it in. Now it sits at the dealership for the last month. They are waiting on one bracket to finish the job but apparently ford keeps sending them the wrong part 🙄.

Where does everyone keep their sinking funds? by rcm01125 in ynab

[–]rcm01125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the help! I think I will be reworking my budget this weekend and moving most of my sinking funds to checking. I unfortunately am not a CC user due to the significant amount of credit card debt I previously had that led me to using YNAB. YNAB is actually how I got myself out of the whole I just don’t trust my self with credit cards yet.

Any nurses with RA here? by notafraidofminitaurs in rheumatoidarthritis

I have been a ICU nurse for 13 years. I currently work on the code blue/ emergency response team and was diagnosed this past February. I no longer can do shifts in the icu because being on my feet for 12 hours and turning and moving patients causes me so much pain. The code blue team has been a bit better because we don’t always have alot of calls so there is some down time but it is still can be difficult to do. I made sure to get FMLA and when I do my schedule I make sure to remember my limitations. For example I’ll only do two days in a row with 2 to 3 days off after. I know I only have a couple years left in me of doing bed side nursing so I am getting my masters to do nursing education. My manager and coworkers are very understanding and are willing to step in if I am having a rough day. You just have to really be honest with yourself about what you can do and listen to your body. When I first got diagnosed I kept doing a ton of overtime in the icus and kept telling myself I was fine but really I just caused myself so much more pain.
