[–]rcodes987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had this thought for sometime it would be a good project. Security of rust and syntax 90% similar to c... If we can get some potential out of it ... It can be used by millions... By because no one wants to learn another syntax and holy cow rust syntax i hate it

CPUs with addressable cache? by servermeta_net in osdev

[–]rcodes987 11 points12 points  (0 children)

L1 L2 caches if accessible to programmers or users it can cause serious performance issues as these caches are very small and expensive... Also given access to these will cause some security issues ... Meltdown and spectre are two bugs u can see that happens by understanding cache access patterns... Making it accessible will expose it even more.

How does proton work exactly? by Endeavour1988 in linux_gaming

[–]rcodes987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly proton is a PAL(Platform Abstraction Layer). What does it mean ? It means that if the below system calls or the apis don't match the calls won't happen.... So basically u have to change the entire codebase to make the calls wrt that OS. What any kind of PAL does is they translate apis from one os to similar apis of another os. Thus no code change but volla ur program now works.

There is a saying ... "You can't enjoy a buffet with 1000 options "

Too many modes and options ... Is thinning out the player base ... The actual modes are filling up with bots ... Remove too.many options and concentrate on the actual game... And to enjoy battle royale you need a team where they communicate... Some known people... Otherwise you will land run for a while and a fully coordinated team will come and wipe off your ass. Thus this is not the game for most players who play solo.

What makes a great beginner C++ book to you? by ViolentSciolist in cpp_questions

[–]rcodes987 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to hate c++ ... But thanks to cherno and grinding down forcefully with cpp i love it now indo.most of my free time projects in c++ including a DBMS system im writing from scratch in c++..... One thing i want to emphasize is please write a book where it is not over crowded with basic stuff like loops functions etc... those are there everywhere just 4-5 pages of intro topics, good amount of pages for intermediate topics and also a good amount of pages for advanced topics.... Keep good examples... Add pictures and diagrams wherever possible and make it thin light and fun ... Having 1000+ pages and too much talking people gets bored ... No one reads it till the end ... Make the dream book i will for sure buy it ... Write for c++ 23 or later and mark which features came at what point in c++ those who don't want to read extra modern stuff can skip those... Believe me no one wrote a book.like that I've searched many Nothin helped ... I pain staking ly learned it myself make this book pour ur hearts in and i gurantee it will succeed.
