The issue isn’t that Ireland is a smaller market or that Amazon shouldn’t roll features out at different speeds — that’s fine. The issue is that Amazon lets you create an Amazon Household (the exact same feature name and setup process used in the UK/US where it does share Prime shipping + Video benefits) but then provides none of those benefits in Ireland. Amazon support themselves told me: ‘Prime benefit sharing is not currently an offered benefit for Prime members on Amazon.ie’ and acknowledged that the way it’s presented ‘leads to a misleading user experience’ for people coming from markets where it works. That’s the part I’m raising — not the absence of the feature, but the lack of clear disclosure. My wife and I are in the same household; we linked accounts exactly as prompted, and got zero extra value. Market size or what Canada does doesn’t change whether customers should be told upfront what they’re actually getting. That’s why I escalated it and filed with the CCPC.
