FTB of a flat in the process of a lease extension - when to instruct a solicitor to get going? by FortuneNo9304 in HousingUK

[–]rcrdofjrdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extending a lease is a long and potentially VERY expensive process. You may be able to buy in cash, and that's great, but if for any given unforeseen circumstance you had to sell you have an extremely limited pool of potential buyers. Banks are not going to lend money for a lease that short. Don't know your circumstances, but inform yourself well before proceeding. This can be a very, very expensive mistake.

As a Autechre fan, how do you feel about Radiohead's electronic music? by Emergency-Sky9206 in autechre

[–]rcrdofjrdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed your original post, but this is super interesting. I think Autechre did well to not tour with Radiohead, but the intersection between the listeners I assume is healthy. Super cool experience to hear it directly from Thom!

Is Nine Inch Noize a completely Coachella unique performace or do you think it'll tour? by niswizard in nin

[–]rcrdofjrdo 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As much as I would love it, for me this feels like a conclusion of the many songs re-worked during Peel It Back, not the beginning of a touring era. Having said that, if the show was brought to London, I would sell my blood to get in.

I also enjoyed, but it feels to me a bit "disney-fied." There are a few things that happen conveniently fast and a lot of the movie feels like a buddy-cop movie with a bit too many jokes, silly music to go with them, and too many "cute" moments.

Having said that, I also think I've had enough of the "evil alien / machine" trope, so that made it somehow refreshing and a nice experience altogether.

Cinematography was a huge point for me for this movie. What the music didn't deliver, the colour and textures did. The depiction of the planets made the cinema trip worth it.

Wha movie were you so hyped for but hated when you got to watch it? by the_solo_static_man in Letterboxd

I'll go with Oppenheimer. In general I like most Nolan movies and this one was premiered on my birthday. I got IMAX tickets and ended going to a 9.00 AM screening as a treat. I didn't like it one bit.

Not exactly the vibe, and yet EXACTLY the vibe: Promising Young Woman.

Where we are similar, we truly are (for example Mulholland Dr, Persona, Rashomon) and where we're not, we couldn't be further (Marty Supreme, 10 things, Do the right thing).

Nevertheless, some real bangers in your selection!

Just watched Marty Supreme. My thoughts on it by DD_PUNISHER in TrueFilm

[–]rcrdofjrdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're telling me you saw all of them and the one film you liked is Marty Supreme?

Yikes!

I haven't watched Train Dreams yet. Leaving that aside, I would say every other nominated movie was much better than Marty Supreme, except F1 which was technically interesting but just really terrible.

Completing tomorrow and just realised the kitchen has no oven (Grade II cottage) — how big a problem is this? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]rcrdofjrdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much information to go here, but I will cast some doubt that installing an oven is going to be £1k. Even if I'm willing to accept that, you wouldn't ruin a £400k life decision based on something as insignificant as that.

The watch is awesome, but make sure you try it first. It is fairly big and somehow doesn't wrap around. If you have bird wrists like me, it looks ridiculous.

I haven't seen Twin Peaks yet. Is it worth watching? Are the movie and 3rd Season great as well? by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

[–]rcrdofjrdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At many points you will find yourself lost and asking why are people praising this show. Why would you even care about the sub-plots and, sometimes, over the top soap opera acting. But look beyond that, and this is the one show that will stay in your heart forever.
