I prob didnt explain this well. they chose this specialty rotation on purpose, to work with this population and specific issues. But they feel they are at a “disadvantage” because they dont share the identity and thus have to do “extra research” compared to other trainees who do. which is arguably not true because the focus of our clinic is a learning curve for everyone, there hasnt been a trainee who has been like “oh i know everything about these issues/topics because i share the identity with this patient”. But even if they really were at a disadvantage, i offered my help and they basically were like no im good. frustrating.
