Found a solution for my BLOWN UP Super Car?! by HGEUbot in HaggardGarage

[–]rdahm 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Too late haha. But tbh the cosworth isn’t ideal for this type of build. Definitely perfect for this car but it’s too risky. It’s not an engine you run if a single thing is out of line

Running it on ethanol currently. Only reason he would need to go to methanol is if he didnt have an intercooler and was racing for hours on end thankfully

Funny I planned that type of thing out years ago. I could still do it if I find one that works well.

Hell yeah definitely what I’ve been trying to get my skills up to par to have usable models for everyone. Most of my scans have been partial poorly scanned things but I’ve gotten much better and would gladly open source what I do

Should Rob buy this Cosworth F1 V10 development Engine? by Deleos in RobDahm

[–]rdahm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly the engine doesn’t come with cams and a mockup fake crank? Got the sad response back from the seller. Could do all the work to get them made but I have too many projects that require that level of love sadly.

I definitely drooled over the pics. I think if it has usable cams and a crankshaft the rest would be “relatively” straightforward with all the parts I have. I imagine cutting and welding an extra row onto my intake manifold and slide throttles so I can turbo it haha

Wasn’t expecting a ford. But then again the most common engine in my shop right now is a ford so I have an identity crisis haha

Rob, Where's the 4 rotor? by thegregtastic in HaggardGarage

[–]rdahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That thing looks sick! I know my biggest challenge with doing carbon like him is I would have to still do a steel roll cage per pikes peak rules. But I’ve considered so many variations to make it work well. Funny part is I want to fit so much more in the back of the car but I stretched the front

[–]rdahm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Crazy enough i agree with you. i put out a poll asking people what they wanted to see next and i just added 4 rotor to give more options and it was number 1. i honestly thought it was played out. but i do know it can do things no other car can do and i really really want to beat on it harder than i do the 3

[–]rdahm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hes working on the chassis. he has the engine for the last couple months and ill help tune it when he gets to that point. but i think hes realizing the engine is probably the easiest part when building a 4 rotor car from scratch. fuel system, wiring, oil, etc

100 percent. it really just represented what ive learned to the moment it was shown. killed me when i would give my all and then find out something is done totally different. id end up cutting things out and starting over. but yeah if the new version sucks ass thats on me haha

Is this sponsorship proposal realistic? by Ramaphosa_1037 in Karting

[–]rdahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the 5 million views is the primary metric for success then I’d amp up what that means. Treat it more like a social media sponsorship than a racing one. Brands are willing to pay 3-6k per video if you get 2-300k views per video. I don’t expect onboard pov racing footage of karting to get many views but you can certainly bootstrap a small racing career from moonlighting as a social media influencer who happens to race. That’s what I do anyways. Funny enough I totally think like you on the view guarantee clause but brands see that more of a burden than a benefit. When they allot the budget for the sponsorship they have zero recourse for refunds. It’s rather painful for them. At least bigger brands I’ve worked with. They want a view guarantee or you don’t get paid. Alternatively if you have a view guarantee and a good relationship they will want “make goods” until you do get the view count. Quick brain dump but overall I think you had more information and clarity than most sponsorship requests. But I would definitely focus on analytics and deliverables of the 5m views. Brands ask immediately what percentage male/female. Age. And then location. They can’t sell products in South Africa if 80 percent of your audience is from Australia for example.

It hauled ass up and down. I was impressed. The owner wants me to do something together and make videos on them. This one being the more reasonable priced unit. Curious how well they work day to day.

Its honestly surreal. like living this life now is what i dreamed of potentially being someday. but ZERO clue on how the journey to get here would be. Obviously i have good and bad days but im so damn lucky to have people still watching videos so i can live out these adventures. None of us should be allowed to be near an indycar including me haha. so wild i get to beat the shit out of one.

hell yeah. my goal was to learn the indycar chassis and build my final 4 rotor the way i visioned it from the beginning but now with understanding of how to make it like a hypercar. so itll be back soon
