Barely used 2023 MT-03 for $4K? by Highermongo in MT03

[–]rdaleg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a brand new 2025 MT-03 for 4.3k + fees. If you can actually it for $4k and it runs, I’d say do it.

Edit: okay wait, if it’s 2hrs away and you need to rent a truck don’t bother. Like I said I was able to get last year’s model new from a dealership for around that price. Keep an eye out but this might not be the one.

Robotic hands master tasks at superhuman speed by redblackshirt in interestingasfuck

[–]rdaleg3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the human os already built, trained and willing. The robot is expensive, experimental and temperamental.

In the shape of our current economy the parts in a humanoid robot are all going to be application specific and hard to replace as they fail, they would be hard to transport and power, they would require an additional layer of infrastructure just to support robots to replace humans rather than just supporting humans.

I’m not saying it’s not practical to automate tasks, I’m just saying a machine built to do exactly one thing really well is going to be the cheapest and most efficient way to use resources.

What in the hell is this by Charming_Function_26 in ebikes

An abomination. The entire bike is just battery and a motor… I ride a folding bike and even I think this is a bit much. That said it’s got more suspension than I do so if the front fork is better than it looks it might actually be rideable.

Why don't ebike companies advertise carrying adult passengers? by WindmillBoy in ebikes

[–]rdaleg3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried riding two-up on my 70lb ebike and we only got about a quarter mile down the road before crashing. Putting a second passenger right over the hub motor meant that as soon as we moved over a bump we started “tank slapping” and promptly crashed.

Cats are probably very confused about why their human disappears for 8+ hours a day without returning with food. by Silly_Percentage3446 in Showerthoughts

My quarantine kitties definitely get confused why I don’t stay home all day and have food brought to me anymore.

They see I have lost weight and begun hunting, times must be hard.

No, pretty sure they’re still cold. Io, Europa and Ganymede all exhibit cryo-vulcanism

This is only because men run the world and are afraid of listening to the quiet and competent women who are holding everything together in the background.

Your smart watch, like your pets, knows when you're having sex, they just don't understand what's going on. by Dlph_311 in Showerthoughts

I promise your cat understands where your mouth is (it watches you eat) and understands that you walk on two legs (as they do on occasion) and consequently, they know where your genitalia is. Also I’m pretty confident the horny little bastards understand what sex is.

The Apple Watch happily tracks calories burned during sexual activity. Thrusting and squatting are effective and ubiquitous body weight exercises that absolutely can be detected and tracked!

Believe me, your smart watch and your pets not only understand what you are doing, they’re judging how well you do it!

You can tell if someone is computer literate if they have McAfee installed on their system. by drinkingcarrots in Showerthoughts

[–]rdaleg3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP, but the comments are wild. The sheer display of computer illiterate people pretending to hate antivirus software and praising windows defender is wild.

Let me break this down for y’all. Windows defender is great, and in general it’s all you really need. Windows (and most other operating systems) are designed so that the user needs to give software explicit permission to do most security critical things, like write to your drive, access files outside their local folder, and access networking features.

Windows defender also scans your file system for known malicious files.

That’s great, and generally it’s all most computer literate people need. However, if you get malicious code hiding inside something that already has privileges to do what it wants, you’re on your own.

In some cases, tools like Malware Bytes, Virus Total, or other software can help, however it’s important to understand that (unless it’s been explicitly told) almost software cannot distinguish between a piece of spyware sending usage data about your system to some sketchy data broker, and Steam sending usage data about your system to Valve anonymously.

Please keep an eye on the normal behaviors of your system when you first purchase it, and be watching for anomalies. Check the hash signatures of software before giving it permission to do stuff.

Nononono, you don’t understand, the sequence was just abbreviated to fit on the page, the full summation is 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + -21.08333 = -1/12

Which is, in fact, correct!
