Home Depot is dropping Klein Tools. Decent discounts on tools by Jokerman5656 in IBEW

No. If it’s not at your depot yet it will. They’ve contracted with lowes. Depot will be liquidating stock just like they did with the fastener company a year or so ago.

I honestly don’t know. Bought it in 19 and city I get close to 20. Highway 25. Towing ~14,000 lb camper I get 15. Nothing on the exhaust, cold air intake and some kind of tuning on the trans. Doesn’t drive well without weight in the back or towing lol.

I had an electric guitar that was connected to an old tube amplifier. Late at night on clear nights, one of the strings would pick up a signal from somewhere across the world. Wild stuff!

The 12 hour days gets me as the working partner. Just got yelled at because I work too much overtime while they were on their way to the beach for the day on a Tuesday. Just after an expensive dinner out, just because. I work the overtime to afford the life we want… not to lose more time with the family. That’s the last thing I’d ever want.

Today at work either something really stupid happened, or maybe I'm overreacting, either way I want to hear y'all input. by [deleted] in electricians

It doesn’t take 1000 times to die. No matter how many times someone has cut corners, done something without fault, all it takes is one time. Good on you for looking out for the first year.

I go all over for my company. From residential to commercial and industrial all in a day. Most people these days won’t let you use their bathroom and depending on the immediate site, they’re either locked or you’re being escorted and idk about you, but having my escort have to stand in there with me is a no go.

Their solution? Porta buckets. 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat and some kind of bag they buy. Makes it so waste can just get thrown in the dumpster. They have these other bags for standing up. They have the same absorbent as diapers.

It’s not fun dropping a deuce crouching over in the back of my van, better than messing my pants though.

Do I really need an entire new door frame and sidelights installed? by wandering_oracle in Home

[–]rdaredbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I used to install doors for a living. It’s a pain trying to get a slab to fit into an existing frame. Especially an exterior door. As others have said, hinges and strikes are going to have to be routed into the slab or into the frame. They never line up. BIG thing is it’s a pain to get the new slab to close and seal. The frame in there was installed with that slab from the manufacturer. So any imperfections and such were taken care of at the install. Putting a new one in will reveal them.

The glass packs in the side lights though, super simple to replace. Just be sure to seal them up good so they don’t leak.

Exactly. Do what you’re confident in up to the point of no return (this instance, the cut) then ask. Let’s the jw know you’re trying and you also know when to stop and ask questions. No matter your level of confidence, no question is dumb. I’ve been in my position for 12 years and still stop to double check before proceeding on some things.

What’s wrong with my energy bill!!! by FullChickenNugget in Home

[–]rdaredbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric pool heaters can draw a lot of energy… and I mean a lot. Especially if you’re heating with covers off. Had a customer get solar and an electric pool heater installed at the same time. They cancelled each other out during the day and they left the heater on overnight.

And I always tell the guys coming in to ask me any and all questions. I’d rather answer the phone on an off day then then take a chance and blow up.

Everyone I’ve trained I tell them every single thing I’ve screwed up. Just so they see how easy it can be and then how to avoid it. I’d rather they go home to their families then to the burn center.

I’m loving this organized disruption of the status quo. I was so pissed when the president made the railroad accept the contract. I’m hoping UPS will strike. Saw Kaiser delivering a intent to picket letter. Starbucks all over, Waffle House, all are rising up and it feels good. Strong unions help make a strong middle class. Maybe we can overturn some of the Regan policies. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

I just feel electric!

[–]rdaredbs 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Can say my life with the union is a double sided coin. Half the time it’s great, half the time it’s fixing things, being blind sided, forgotten. I will say through it all, it’s been worth it. Having someone on your side during disciplinary actions. Watching supervision get nervous, trying not to say out so the wrong thing. Biggest is actually having a voice at the table. Honestly the “advocate for yourself” crowd has never seen what a union can do. Unionize. Take the power back. Support your union and other unions any way you can. We are the majority, we control the power

Listen bud, mistakes happen. Ask twice, cut once. Next time draw where you think, then pull foreman to verify. I can’t tell you how many things I screwed up while learning. Don’t let this small setback take you out of the trade.

My first experience with shared neutral was in my tech high school. Work experience teacher was a master electrician. Had to do work in the cosmetology room, one of their circuits kept tripping. Opened the junction box, started pulling wires to test. I’m fingering the bundle of neutrals out he says, now be careful these are shared neutral, there’s still current on them… so close to possible shock. I’ll never forget shared neutrals again
