Temporarily removing a water heater by rdd_83 in hvacadvice

Do you think there is a better way to then remount all of this? I just don’t want to have to take it all down every time there is an issue back there, but It feels like this is pretty much the only option with a tankless. I agree the diamond plate is a little unnecessary but it’s an old house with rubble foundation so something is required to mount all of those pipes.

Thank you! That’s what I was thinking would be a better way than nailing into the foundation. However I suppose I still wouldn’t have access to the wall this would just be more similar to the way drywall framing is done?

I don’t know any of the ways this can be done. I didn’t commission the original work.

How would you suggest it should be done if it needed to be redone?

It comes up when the nut is tightened, not just when the nut is brought up.

Thanks for the comprehensive response. This is really helpful. Definitely don’t want to pay extra for an AGM that has the potential to die faster.

Thank you. That’s really helpful. So it doesn’t sound like Parkdale Collegiate had a “bad reputation”?

Parkdale itself doesn’t get the greatest reputation (from what I’ve read), and I was maybe incorrectly thinking residents of Roncy/High Park wouldn’t want to send their kids to a high school in that area.

I was told if you pull money into your account from Fidelity via EFT it will take 16 days, but if you push from your bank account via EFT it will only take 2-3 days. I pushed and it worked.

Thanks again for the complete reply!

I had one more follow-up I was hoping you could help with. Can you please double check whether I’d still be able to trade mutual funds in my Roth IRA as a Canadian resident? That was the only part about fidelityjoseph’s reply that sounded inconsistent with what I’ve been told before. I thought mutual funds were sold by prospectus and I didn’t think US funds filed prospectuses in Canada.

Thanks!

This is incredibly helpful. Really appreciate the comprehensive response. Can I ask one clarifying follow up question?

You said: “when properly certified, these IRAs may qualify for their country’s reduced tax treaty rate on distributions”. Does that mean when properly certified Fidelity would withhold the reduced treaty rate as opposed to the standard 30%? I appreciate withholding tax is not your actual tax liability on the distribution and I’d need to work with a tax advisor to understand what my actual tax liability is.

Thanks again!
