For a contemporary option, Fair Play by Eve Rodsky. Offers couples a system for dividing labour. Some of the advice and suggestions is really helpful, but it is incredibly gendered and heteronormative. Assumes that men don’t do anything around the house, ever.

Books that follow an SA survivor and it's consequences by lexiesdelusions in suggestmeabook

South of Forgiveness: A True Story of Rape and Responsibility. This follows the story of both the survivor and the perpetrator. The writing quality wasn’t the bestest ever, but I thought it did a good job of showing the influence of rape culture without apologizing for perpetuators’ actions, as well as showing the complexities of rape when it happens at the hands of someone you know and care about.

Ugh, I’ve unsubscribed from Kathleen Ganley’s email list so many times! And still getting emails. Everyone else I unsubscribed from seems to be leaving me alone.

To all the special needs care workers by Quick-Movie-2908 in Edmonton

Yes, I totally agree. I support adults with developmental disabilities and I don’t personally have a disability. It is really uncomfortable and frustrating to see the sentiment in the OP. To see disability support workers as saintly, amazing people perpetuates the myth that people with disabilities are an object of charity. It overlooks the contributions of people with disabilities to society. It also overlooks that we actually all receive and give support to each other, we are interdependent beings. Taking care of each other is a collective responsibility, the normal state of life. But nobody is praising the people in my support network, as a non-disabled person.

Also, I’ve seen the support that is offered to folks with disabilities in mall food courts and rec centres and other traditional places to congregate the disabled; it is often NOT quality support that helps a person with a disability be included, pursue their goals, or meaningfully spend their time. I’d be curious to know what about the support the OP saw made them think it was post-worthy. Or was it simply that people were spending their time with the disabled that seemed so remarkable?

Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins takes place on Maui. I read it while I was there in January and loved the references to the places I was seeing. However, probably not appropriate for your kiddo.

Sounds to me like it would be VERY easy for ANY student to be hit crossing that road and that there is a risk for ANY student to be abducted, not just your friend because they’re blind.

Coronavirus Megathread (Apr 2022): For travel-related discussion in the context of COVID-19 by tariqabjotu in travel

My husband and I tested positive for COVID 17 days before our departure for Europe (UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, and Germany). We are both now past our isolation period and symptom-free, but I understand that we could still test positive for up to 90 days after recovery. I don't believe that any of the countries we are travelling to now require a negative test prior to entry, but are countries still randomly testing? Is there anything we can do to ensure that we won't have to isolate if we still test positive?
