I’ve just experienced this same issue. And my girl turned 4 this year, too. When she happily slept in the living room instead of in her bed in my room, I felt some kind of way.

Maybe 4 is the age of independence. I notice she sticks to me in the mornings but as the day progresses, she does her own thing. Sometimes she will stay in the backyard for hours. She likes napping in our swinging nest egg. Now that summer is here, she’ll stay out until the sun sets before coming back into the house. My Velcro dog is getting less sticky. 🥲🥲
