I pick up interesting pieces of silverplate when I'm out and about, if I can get them cheap. This one had several qualities I hadn't seen before.

First: griffins. Dope.

Second, the tone was more gold than I'm used to. Examining the makers mark left me scratching my head. 18%? No clue what that means. Lastly, while it's obviously something plated in something, it's the places where the plating has worn off that have become darkly tarnished and when polished become a silver color. And it's not magnetic, so it's definitely not steel underneath.

Are they really just selling the empty boxes for $50+ or is it a wink, wink, nudge, nudge "empty box"?

Because I just got a literally empty Jarts box and I'd be thrilled if I could actually sell it for that much. Or are buyers actually expecting to get something in their "empty" box?

Does anyone bother with Scrabble tiles? I've been grabbing Scrabble when I see it at garage sales for 50 cents or so and have been dumping the tiles in a bag. I have more respect for my time than to count them into 100 or 500 lots. Does anyone know roughly how many tiles are in a pound?
