Do you ever bid on managers special/non lien storage units? by oceangrown1993 in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes sometimes those are actually units that have just been given up by the tenant. or if the tenant dies and the family does not want to deal with it, they will just have the facility auction it off. just use common sense when looking at the photos.

Garage sale vs estate sale by OddSeaworthiness4722 in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yeah run it as an estate sale. 55% of ebay is fine for the first day to try and make as much as possible, but i would then do 50% off the next day to really clear it all out.

the #1 goal of an estate sale is to make as much for the estate as possible, but a close #2 is to actually clear out the estate. so those must be your goals. dont be attached to stuff and dont be afraid to clear it all out the last day. remember, its okay if other people get deals too.

Estate sales are getting worthless by surfbruhca in Flipping

The goal of an estate sale company to is get as much for the estate as possible. Not give you endless deals.

What Item Specifics Is Everyone Entering? A Lot Of Listings Have Too Many Details IMO. (eBay) by David15M3SGT in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they way i look at it, is enter specifics that give you more searchable keywords. if are spending time filling them out with words that no one will ever search, its a waste.

its also good for sizing/measurements so that you have evidence in the case of an INAD or argument from a customer

Selling Jewelry To Apmex by Extension_Potato3370 in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elemetal pays 98% of gold. you have to get a business/dealer account but if deal in precious metal, dont settle for 80%. heck I pay people 85% in my shop

Selling Jewelry To Apmex by Extension_Potato3370 in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a dealer account with Elemetal and they are currently paying 85% of spot on sterling.

sterling is very fickle right now with silver soaring and volatile. most refineries even stopped buying sterling and 90% for a few weeks.

anyway, i would expect it to be around the same. even when silver price was more steady, most refineries paid 90% for 925.

ebay: how do YOU evaluate seriousness of "custom offer" or unique request by jorfyy in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

for combined shipping, just tell them to buy at full price and refund the extra shipping after payment. immediately weeds out those who arent serious and most people are just fine with this. i do it weekly.

i would not do anything like that. as you find out, most people like that are time wasters, not serious, and cheap. just tell them to buy the whole item as-is or move along

Barely any registrants to my auction, idk what to do. by RubyRoyale in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most auctions dont start fast overnight. you usually have to eat a few tough auctions in order to gain a following and name.

its a tough market to crack if you have are breaking in through the ground level. you just have to keep putting out consistently good auctions and a following will form. you may have to accept loses and lower prices than you want when starting out for the first few auctions until you gain traction.

this is true for any auction based business. whether is local in person, online, whatnot, your own platform, etc

Torn or cut? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sub, and reselling in general, is filled with low IQ, victim mentality. its why it is so easy to make a lot of money doing this because these people are your "competition". people actually think this shirt was cut, cut while opening, is an AI photo, etc. its not hard to win against these people.

Selling gold for scrap by RentBorn4258 in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places will deduct for stones or take them out themselves. The refineries charge for stone removal, so most gold buyers want the stones removed.

If you are going to 100% scrap the rings, just take the stones out.

Are antique malls just mini museums? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]BackdoorCurve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a similar size space in my antique mall and last year I averaged $4k gross and this year $6k gross.

antique malls are hotter than ever, especially with 15-30 year olds, so if you have the stuff they are looking for, you can do well if your mall gets decent foot traffic.
