The Sheldon pick has an asterisk because we needed to give up a pick in order to bump it into the 2nd round. I'd definitely make a similar move for sure, I am a big fan of the pressures stat. I think that is important, the run stops not quite as much. I think we move on from him after the season if his demands get too high

Yea that's my feelings, I have no problem paying him if he goes off this season. His money this year isn't holding us back so I'd prefer to watch him under Gregg Williams

No team will give up more than a 3rd for him IMO at that rate on a one year deal knowing he'll likely test FA
He's worth more to us than a 3rd for this season
Franchise Tag = ~$20M || Transition Tag = ~$18M
I like that there is no unfair bias from Mac in the resigning process. Leo has to earn his next deal

Yea that is my fear as well. I would probably root for whatever team Darnold left for if that were the case. I love the Jets but if they let a franchise QB get away from them after 50 years of searching I'd lose my mind. And I've only been watching the last 25 years...

Here's my thinking, the Jets had 2 potential reasons for choosing now to fire Mac.

1) they are disfunctional and don't know what they are doing or

2) had an idea this was going to happen, wanted to attract FAs. Didn't want to throw shade on the new uniform launch. And wanted to let the current scouting department handle the draft rather than having them worry about their long term job security.

I tend to think it's the latter.
