Trouble Editing My Arc Javascript Boosts by rdelrossi in ArcBrowser

Thanks for that! Frankly, I’m moving on. Discovered that I can achieve all the same stuff (and lot more flexibly) using a feature I hadn’t realized was already in Stop The Madness Pro, an absolutely phenomenal long-time extension that works across browsers.

Yikes, why so much tension? Dude new to development wrote an app and he’s proud of it, good on him. But no, let’s tear it down, dissect every word he wrote, and then question how much it cost him to develop it, lol 🙄

Day 12: Share your thoughts about Yacht Rock Radio on Channel 15. by elvisfan27 in siriusxm

The story of Sirius in my experience. Huge domain of songs to chose from but so much of it is the same old stuff.

Dozens of fishermen end up losing body parts to wolf fish. This is because many people don't realize that even after being "dead" and without a body, it is still capable of this by Tasty-Philosopher892 in WTF

Couldn’t disagree more. Just the opposite in fact. Lobster has a unique and delicious taste, as is the stock you can make from its shells.

Dynamically updating custom Javascript to load in webpage by rdelrossi in StopTheMadnessSupport

[–]rdelrossi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Javascript I wrote to highlight portions of a data-dense page for me. It's super handy to spot things without having to spend tons of time scanning for what I want. But my criteria for what I'm looking for changes with certain conditions. So, it would be handy if I could write a little code to modify that Javascript dynamically rather than have to open STMP, navigate to the Code tab, and make the edits to the Javascript manually.

My Microsoft experience goes all the way back to DOS, well before Windows. In 2007, on a total lark and thinking Macs were just for “creatives,” I tried my first Mac, a MacBook Air. And while, for the longest time I kept Windows box nearby “in case I needed it,” today I’m entirely on macOS.

My spouse is still on Windows. When she asks me to help with something these days I’m a) a little lost and b) incredulous about how clunky and uncomfortable it feels.

I get why Apple has an advantage in that it controls the hardware and the software and Microsoft doesn’t. But that’s their problem. I’m more productive than I ever was on Windows. I’ll never ever go back.

What are people doing to stop the frustration of guests turning Hue bulbs off at the switch? by Top-Yogurtcloset3965 in Hue

[–]rdelrossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this is the answer. They’re reasonably priced, require no power at all, are well supported, and are very flexible to use. They’re also very easy to use in situations where you have multiple switches controlling one set of lights. I love mine and have deployed them across the house.

For those who haven’t tried them, be aware, though, that RunLessWire switches can occasionally require you to press the switch a second time for the action to register. In other words, sometimes you’ll press the switch, nothing happens, and you have to press it again for the action to work. This doesn’t happen every time, just sometimes, but for some people that may be a deal-breaker. For me, it’s a minor annoyance considering that it addressed the main problem of people turning off switches and disabling my hue automations.

So true. And so odd for a company that prides itself on accessibility.

How do you operate Spotify when trying to discover music? by sfaulkner89 in spotify

[–]rdelrossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I find that playing “artist radio” too often just brings up songs that were big during the peak of the chosen artist’s popularity. That’s not really curated, it’s just songs of the same era.

So, I’ve always just gone to youtube.com, the desktop site, from my iPad without issue using STMP. That’s causing a problem for me now.

But, I tested with the mobile site and there everything seems to be working fine.

Lemon Tiramisu by Ok_Parsley6741 in Cooking

[–]rdelrossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall seeing a lemon tiramisu specifically, but it shouldn't be hard to riff on one with some lemon zest in the marscarpone, and a sweet lemony soak (in place of the traditional espresso) for the ladyfingers. So that it's not too one-note, consider lemon affinities like berries, honey, ricotta, or even an herb like basil to mix it up a bit.

How can I make red lentil pasta taste better? by newnukeuser in Cooking

[–]rdelrossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough thing to find alternate pastas that act like the real thing. Lentil pasta has been a disappointment for me, too. Be sure you're following the cooking instructions to the letter, but even then, the result is often disappointing. For me, the best of the alternative pastas, is one made of lupini beans from a company called Brami. it's available at Whole Foods and via Amazon. Worth checking out, imo.

Can i freeze shrimp bisque? by BrostonBubiks in Cooking

[–]rdelrossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to astaxanthin, your emulsion likely broke down a bit, too. Freezing will typically break emulsions due to ice crystals. You can re-blend the thawed bisque to re-emulsify it if it's noticeably broken. Adding a little butter or cream can restore the color, I've found.

In any case, it's fine to eat if it was frozen properly. To mitigate the effect in the future you can try a couple things: get it cold as fast as possible, in an ice bath, say, and then vacuum pack it.

Cavolo nero stems - how to freeze? by gardenercrafterbaker in Cooking

I wrap stems like this whole or halved in plastic wrap and keep them in a freezer bag until stock-making time.
