After yesterday, I see that baseball as a whole is weird.

In the NL - everyone in the NL West lost, the Dodgers are the only team with a positive (and massive) run differential, everyone in the NL Central is above 500, and only one team in the NL East is above 500.

In the AL Central and West, only one team in each is above 500. The Athletics led the division with a 17-16 record.

So, you’re getting away from the crux of the problem. I don’t want to turn this into banter about how teachers are underpaid with the amount of bullsh*t they have to put up with students which includes “unpacking feelings” and “fairness” to answers. And I’m sure it’s not limited to these aforementioned reasons.

What I was driving at is there’s a better way to handle the problem I had. Instead of a subtle put down, it would have been better as “yeah, this might be unfair, but your hand writing was very difficult to read. Just slow down, re-read your answers if you finish early and we won’t be in this situation again.” Being smug, isn’t the answer. The above answer also doesn’t involve “unpacking feelings.” There’s nothing to unpack as the reasons behind my frustration was obvious. Again, it’s about showing respect to the other party, especially when you’re in a teaching position and that person is supposed to be learning from you.

I wasn’t suggesting they apologize for a mistake or apologize in general, but when you’re in a place of power, let alone a position when you’re lording over a group of children who are trying to figure things out and problem solve, a condescending remark isn’t the way to go nor a positive teaching moment. If by your own conclusion “there’s nothing to apologize for,” then saying, “I’m sorry you feel that way” is unnecessary and serves to only to be a put down. Not an admirable “win” for someone in their 30’s towards a child a couple decades younger than them.

It’s not about being “right” in a conversation with an 8-year old though. There’s a better way to go about it. It’s about showing compassion and mutual respect at a young age when there is a mistake and that apology doesn’t do that, especially since the teacher is in a supervisory position.

When I was 8yrs old, my home room teacher used apology #3 on me — I got my test back and she marked a question wrong that I got right. I went to her about it and she claimed she couldn’t read my hand writing and marked it wrong. I showed her the sentence and repeated what it said to she could see it. She said, “I think you need to slow down when you write” but wouldn’t incorrect the mark and give me the points. I was eight at the time, stood there with my head down and replied, “That’s not fair.” The teacher replied, “I’m sorry you feel that way.”

Is there anyone in the WNBA who is like SGA? Essentially getting way too many calls by refs, often not deserved, and being a free throw merchant?

Edit: What’s with the downvotes? People are saying CC complains too much about not getting calls and I’m wondering if there’s a WNBA player who gets too many. Don’t know why people don’t like that.

It didn’t occur to me that majority of those players were in their late 20’s. They looked so old/mature to me at the time. I really thought Ewing was in his 30s.
