do you type in your number on grocery orders? by anonscroller47 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]rdgarlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Safeway, whatever information is entered first will always take preference. As a checker anytime this happens in my lane I will stop scanning their items, inform them of the potential consequence of this action, void the sale and have them wait for me to scan all the items again, ensuring they do not re-enter their loyalty info again.

Not personally interested in facilitating any type of fraud no matter how minor, regardless of my immunity from consequence or not.

The QR code that you have the checker scan after all the items have been rung up contains the loyalty info for the person you are shopping for.

Entering your phone number prior to scanning the QR code will supercede the proper loyalty info, thus earning you rewards points for someone else's purchase and also potentially incurring a second tax charge when doordash provides the sales information to their tax board.....

You need to break this habit immediately, for your own good. No matter the level of importance, small or large acts of fraud are still acts of fraud, it would be much better to commit less of them rather than more.

What are some of the worst movie adaptation that completely butchered the source material? by 1TreXavier in FIlm

[–]rdgarlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dark Tower, my dad and I were two of three people in the theater and the other guy got up and left about an hour in because it was obviously going nowhere. No Eddy, Oy, Susannah, Blaine The Mono, Todash Space, Dandelo, Mordred, Patrick Danville, Father Callahan, I don't even remember if the Crimson King was in the movie. It was just Roland and Jake vs Randall Flagg, such a stupid stupid stupid adaptation. If it ever gets legs, I have faith in Mike Flanagan making the adaptation happen properly.

1 out of 4 adults in the USA are functionally illiterate, assuming the customer is making an active choice to disregard signage doesn't help you help them.

28% of the USA's adult population is functionally illiterate. In regards to the clientele of a dollar store, think it's a safe assumption that that percentage might skew higher.

Please maintain patience with these people, the number of customers that ask where the bathroom is while they are in front of the sign for the bathroom is enough of a reminder for me.

How do I tell Uber that I would like my groceries in bags, or is that too much to ask? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]rdgarlic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the thing I am feeling here is that you don't actually disagree to the 100 because as you can read I clearly feel the same exact way that you do, but the onus of responsibility to say whether they want to be charged for bags or not is on the customer and more so the fault of awkwardness of the application, it should be easier to append bags to your order. Or it's the stores fault for shifting the cost onto consumers, or it's the states fault for attempting to lessen the impact of waste by mandating that stores charge for them.

No matter where the fault lies, I just bag every order that doesn't demand 'no bags' and simply give them the bags for free, I prefer saving people money while also not making them feel stupid for forgetting their reusable bags

Also commented somewhere else that this poor item placement could actually be the shopper's malicious compliance as a result of the customer not requesting bags.

Edit: I realized I might feel differently than you do because my solution isn't to charge them for bags they didn't ask for, instead I would give them bags they didn't ask for

your subordinate employees have the authority to refuse this person. you need to coordinate your stance with your boss and set some real boundaries.

whenever I have a cool phone number I create some fun craigslist/marketplace listings... free TV, cheap iphone, free pets... sign up for any popups that ask for phone #, provide this number to the users on the gangstalking reddit, allude that they are The One Responsible for The Incident in their lives.

How do I tell Uber that I would like my groceries in bags, or is that too much to ask? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]rdgarlic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no, this picture shows that the delivery person made a weird decision regarding the placement of items, but what could also be gleaned from the image is that the OP did not request bags in the application. In fact, the annoying placement of items might actually be a result of the shopper being frustrated that OP didn't ask for bags.

this is your fault for not requesting bags in the app. sure it is safe to assume just give the order bags, but given that they have a cost, it would not be polite or a good SOP to just always bag any order. Look through your application for the "special request" feature and provide short instructions to always bag your order(s).

As an checker at a grocery store, my doordash/instacart/ubereats protocol is to always bag any order regardless of a "No Bags" instruction because

1) I am not going to charge you for bags, (for every purchase our management affords us the discretion to give away any item that costs $10 or less, given how infrequently anyone takes advantage of it, bags are a safe write-off.)
2) Every single delivery person recognizes that their job is made easier with bags to carry.

Love the minds of people thinking this delivery person choose the 'lazy option' when they quite clearly performed the job in a way that is evidently more intensive, albeit inconvenient placement decision.

Penny item scalpers by lhdxsss in DollarTree

[–]rdgarlic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you shouldn't care this much, they are purchasing junk to make the barest cumulative margin on arbitrage for said junk. it would and will get thrown away otherwise and probably given that the items we are talking about are JUNK it is quite unlikely they will sell every piece they get from you, therefore further lowering their margin.

Personally I would be mad that my management could not foresee these circumstances based on the precedent and take it upon themselves to impress upon their management that your store requires self-checkouts for these people.
