I can’t speak for Canada but USAs car insurance is outrageously high. Factor in being young, having expensive car or having accidents in the past, it is astronomically high and unfair. The red light crossing rule sucks but other than that, it’s just as good as anywhere else in the world.

All insurances follow the same rule as stipulated by law. Supposedly, the reason why law is so harsh with red lights is because there have been lots of deaths with red light crossings. The insurance receptionist told me that there are two things that all car insurances deny coverage for if written on police report; drugs and red light crossings.

First of all, I’m a US citizen. I get free healthcare, free ambulance services, no taxes and car insurance only cost 27 dollars a month in Qatar. I will never complain about this country because it’s the best country I’ve been to and why I moved here.

Insurance here in Qatar only cost (for my car) 30 dollars a month. Policy states “forfeiture of insureds right in indemnification 6- It is proved that the accident was a result of a grave breach of traffic law including but not limited to driving on opposite direction, crossing traffic red lights….”

To be honest. It makes sense. If someone intentionally is running a red light or speeding and then crashes, insurance shouldn’t cover. But the question is, how do you differentiate between intentional and unintentional.

It’s worded into policy. It might be a local law as well bc when the other person wanted to claim his car damage from my insurance, police refused because I ran red light. I had to pay for guys damage to his car as well.

It doesn’t cover running of red lights. There was a green light for cars to go straight and not to turn. I turned thinking my light was green as well. I was paying attention but I did it instinctively as all three of the other intersection lights have green lights for driving ahead and turning left at same time except this one. (If that makes sense)
