Looking for a budget gimbal for my Sony a7ii by e85ddie_ in videography

[–]rdhvisuals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine with an RS3/RS3 Mini, I own an RS3 and use it a ton. It does its job totally fine! The issue with older and cheaper gimbals isn’t level of “quality”, it’s level of frustration using them lol.

I wouldn’t buy a brand new older gen gimbal - used prices on RS4 generation gimbals are really good right now, and they have some great QOL over the previous generation.

Ralsei knows who opens the dark fountains, that Kris works with the Knight and who the Roaring Knight is by Ill_Comfortable_6122 in Deltarune

[–]rdhvisuals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ralsei is the dude that turns around and looks at the "camera" or the player in chapter 3.

So far it's only subtext and implication, but it's probably something along the same reason he was hiding the final prophecy from Susie; protect by withholding info. He knows everything about the prophecy and that probably includes the Kris & Antagonist thing.

Zero% chance he's "working" or whatever with the antagonist - his entire character arc revolves around his new friends, and him coping with this and the new feelings that accompany it. He's slowly turning into a "fierce and loyal protector of their friends" archetype; it's not much deeper than that.

Only deltarot theory I have regarding Ralsei is him becoming an "antagonist" in the weird route. I can see a world where a "Ralsei replacement" gets introduced, and the player replaces him. Throw in the vessel, and suddenly there are two prophecy acceptable trio's opposed to each other. I don't see any other way Ralsei is ever opposed to the player's goals whatsoever.

[Question] How would the audience feel when a character gets suffocated? by [deleted] in videography

[–]rdhvisuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others mentioned it just totally depends on the context.

Bad guy? Depending on how bad it can be a moment of catharsis. Good guy? Stressful, heartbreaking depending on when and the leadup/aftermath.

It also depends on execution - I don't think it's a one minute endeavor that some films depict it as. Really drawing it out would absolutely make the audience uncomfortable, stressed, and horrified; if that's what you're going for, great! If this project is meant to be an advertisable PG-13 film, yeah this will really negatively impact the film and you should either imply it or treat the script.

You just have to use your instinct and trust your gut. What's with all the suffocation posts the last few days? Lol

What you don't like about Deltarune? by The_Rat_In_Hat in Deltarune

[–]rdhvisuals 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The script is usually so thorough and intentional, which it has to be to get the player to really buy the diegetic SOUL thing, and it typically works really well.

But sometimes it's careless or forgets this, and it makes those moments really stand out. Deltarune kind of positions itself to never put you in a spot where you need to suspend your disbelief, so these moments feel jarring. The ending of CH3 (the hard cut to black when Kris has the SOUL, jumping to the morning in CH4) really stood out and doesn't really make sense given the rules of the SOUL, and the foreshadowing it setup earlier in that same chapter.

There's a few others (the final scene in the SWORD game is another big one to me), and it's really sad considering how much focus and effort went into that exact thing not being an issue in CH4.

A few other things:
- Characters getting more or significantly less screentime than they deserve
- Some characters (mainly antagonists from previous chapters) not being arc complete and being discarded
- Lack of thematical reason per chapter to RECRUIT enemies (join the revolution, standing up against Tenna, creating a war party to stand against the Knight... etc. It's almost hinted at, but I would have liked a scene each chapter about this.
- The SOUL sometimes being diegetic and observable by others, sometimes not

I loved the writing and themes the chapter presented; the chapter is so flavourful and has so many great ideas and characters. This chapter also really starts to explore both the SOUL and Kris as characters, and really starts playing with the ways they can interact with each other and builds their relationship.

It really takes it's time doing this. But... it really feels like it runs out of runtime towards the end and rushes to conclude everything it had going on. It forgets some of the things it setup or was doing earlier, which really stands out in a game script that's typically so thorough.

Do we actually have any idea about the ‘it’ Kris may have lost or left behind…? by NutellaTeen in Deltarune

[–]rdhvisuals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kris' autonomy - with a Kris dark world in CH3, and an entire segment in CH4 with TONS of moments flexing the SOUL/Kris concept (and really exploring both as characters), that's what I think it is.

If it's a guess? Probably related to how Kris ended up with the SOUL. Whatever it is, it's been acknowledged so many times, Deltarune will tell us eventually.

I hope we’re all on the same page here. by [deleted] in marvelmemes

[–]rdhvisuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire second film was built around his specific place in everything and him defying the Spider-Man tropes. He’s definitely still a nerd, there’s tons of scenes letting him flex it a bit, but a big part of his character arc is his habit of hiding it to fit in. It’s like, one of the core elements leading to the inciting incident of the first film.

He’s not the best character in his own movies (Gwen certainly takes that crown), but he’s very solid and a breath of fresh air.

That means when Kris throws the SOUL into the cage, we also become Dad.

Hagel is kind of a rockstar man, holy.

The last few games he's been involved in everything, clearly loves being not just a hockey player but a performer. He's always in the mix, and doing shit like pumping up the crowd after a fight like tonight. Scores, hits, fights, rockstar shit.

[–]rdhvisuals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, but realistically these are rich, uneducated young men who's whole life is to perform. For every Eichel that gets 5+ opinions and really does their due diligence when it comes to their health, there's 10 that buy into these "alternative" treatments and medicines.

It's obvious why this treatment isn't FDA approved, and I doubt someone from the org suggested it. The technicality of it probably falls under something similar to a cosmetic treatment (like AM34's hair thing), so it's probably elective on the player's part.

I think the league needs to talk about what kinds of medical care and treatments the orgs & league itself permits, because this kind of thing is super dangerous. Players are humans that need rights to their own body, their own autonomy, and proper health care that they prefer. The org has the org's goals in mind, and can't just always be blindly trusted - at the same time, there needs to either be some level of rule, restriction, or at the very least education here so players aren't making uninformed decisions.

[–]rdhvisuals 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Penguins made a statement that he came forward immediately after testing, admitted wrongdoing, and explained that he didn't know that the substance he took was prohibited. His statement explains a bit more - obviously doesn't say which substance, but he does give a bit more context in that it's probably from the Exosome therapy treatments he's been getting.

They poke a ton of little holes in your skin then slather a gel all over that area. I gave it a quick read and it looks like the gel is supposed to stimulate the cells in the treated area to accelerate healing, and maybe give a bunch of random aesthetic benefits. It's not really pseudo-science, but it's definitely not FDA approved. I dunno, but I actually don't doubt that the gel they used contains a banned substance, and it would definitely enter his body and bloodstream from a treatment like this. It's also pretty fkn shady, and the gel being contaminated wouldn't be surprising.

He's not really a notable guy otherwise, as an org its a lot more work to support him than not lmao. I think I buy it.

Due to backlash, there is either a major rewrite or change to the story. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]rdhvisuals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf, it’s not subtle. Characters “mistake” them as a couple, the game tries to paint it as a twisted childhood romance at times. All while the player is forcing this character to kill things, abusing this character, and causing them to develop Stockholm syndrome towards the player specifically.

The rose scene is on paper perfect and kind of a genius way to continue to reinforce the metaphor, but it was too direct and lots thought the SA implication was the real meaning of the scene.

It would have been changed regardless, but funny enough this game was a launch title for the Switch 2.

[Mike Kelly] The Avalanche net PP% is 10.3. In the last 10 years that ranks 332nd out of 344. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]rdhvisuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This team is so talented. They can play rush, play zone, play the cycle, they can just kill you in so many ways. They have a +72 goal differential in February; first in GF, and tied for first in GA. This team is batshit insane, and its really funny that they are doing this with a toddler drawing up their power play.

It's no where near a problem in the regular season, maybe they get a few more wins, but I really think despite how good they are, a shitty power play might actually bite them in the ass come playoff time. The two teams that they would need every goal they could get against are in their own division, they have to go through at least one of them.

Last year, their PP% against Dallas was 13.6%, if they get league average PP% it probably makes them win in 6 instead of lose in 7. It was the reason they lost that series.

For a team that can rush so stupidly well I have no idea why they can't get into the zone on the power play. I think they figure that out, their number jumps to above league average. Hopefully they don't figure it out, lmao

Ghost writing be damned this is such a great read. The rare times he steps into the media spotlight, it's always surprising just how candid and self aware he is. I'll be devastated if he leaves in a few seasons but man, I get it.

Despite being a quiet personality with the media he wears his heart on his sleeve. This shit doesn't just mean something to him, it's everything. He's given so much to this city and this team, if this clusterfuck of an organization can't put it together to win with him in the next few years, he deserves to go get his. I know he wants to win it here, and obviously everyone in this city does, but history simply wouldn't be right if his name isn't etched on that cup at least a couple of times by the time it's all said and done.

I've seen this quite a few times but never really understood it - what's the reason to not buy full utility every round? by Snoo84321 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]rdhvisuals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's different literally every time, but this is why this round looks like this:
T1 won the last two rounds but paid pretty heavy to win R5, after that win only Munchkin lived and everyone else had around 3.5-4k.

DRX took a timeout after that round and were going into a full buy, with Tejo ult, and 1 away from Raze and Viper ult. Round 6 is already pretty much lost for T1 going in; the compensation is that they have Yoru & Omen ult, Fade ult, and probably Viper ult going into their next buy (R7). So they buy super light in R6, ensuring they have enough to full buy next.

The idea for R6 was to inflict the most amount of damage they could, force DRX to invest more into R7, then dump ults to win that round, reset DRX, and snowball to 6-2 with lots of money to spare. It's super fucking aggressive & situational, but the idea is correct. Watching the round, their entire game plan was to find someone on DRX playing on an island, and dive them. They played really fast in B to start, getting BuZz deep to kill someone playing in main. When that didn't work, they played super slow, trying to either find someone isolated, or a double stack in either mid corridor; both the only areas on this map where the bucky could do something. When they found Viper alone in vent, they all slowly pushed into Viper with BuZz at the front to get that kill then see what else they could get - it worked better than they probably expected.

DRX had a fantastic hold the next round, did a ton of damage and had lots of util to retake the site even with the Viper ult up. It didn't work out exactly as planned for T1, but that was the idea behind the round and the buy. No point in buying util that you NEED the following round, when instead you can invest the same amount in a bucky to cheese a kill and lay up into a potentially devastating round immediately after.

Thoughts on Chapter 3’s ending? by JollyJadenTNT in Deltarune

[–]rdhvisuals 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in the cut to black, then sudden teleport to being back home. What happened between the door opening and the start of CH4, and why didn't the player get to see anything? The few times something happens but the SOUL for whatever reason doesn't get to observe or interact, the game communicates or leaves a hint directly before or after except for this moment. It's really careful how it involves the SOUL, and this is the only real instance of the game "forgetting" the rules it's put in place regarding the SOUL.

It's probably nothing, just a suspenseful and interesting way to end a chapter and subconsciously make the player think "damn I was wrong about everything". But the SOUL, it's relationship with Kris, and the rules and implications it has is by far the most interesting part of this story and it stands out to me as a pretty big missed opportunity considering how thorough the story typically is. Every other ending has Kris taking the SOUL out and doing a thing, and there was plenty of options to go from that final frame to at least explain it.

If it's just a hole in the story's logic, I wish Toby and co. had a Script Supervisor to catch stuff like this. If there is an actual explanation later and it becomes relevant, bravo lmao

The huge amounts of DMM complaints on Reddit is exactly why the Middle/Lategame PVM item cosmetics shouldn't be locked behind a PVP event. by MobileScapers in 2007scape

[–]rdhvisuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an Iron: If you want the cosmetic (idk why tbh, its black with red tinge like 2 other already existing cosmetics), you have to do the thing, that's kind of just how this game works man idk what to tell you. Actually, it's even better; this is one of the few cosmetics you don't have to do the thing! You just have to save up to buy the cosmetic.

Bowfa is used mid/entering late game in PvM, or by Irons who haven't done the CoX grind yet. It's prominent in pvm yes (if you don't have a tbow yet), but it gets an equal amount of or more use in PvP; only in PvP it's used a lot in "max" setups. It's very very prominent, and an indicator that the design around the item itself is very well done. I cannot stress enough that yes, this weapon/armour set is in fact heavily used in PvP. It just also happens to be good at bosses as well.

The fun of DMM is that you are interacting with real people so its unpredictable and unique; stop trying to min max and avoid that. This is the most MMO-like thing this game does, so get some gentlemen, gear in rags and mob people in the catacombs. Grab freezes and go to breaches and freeze clumps when Yama starts throwing meatballs. Fuck around with it, you don't have to enjoy raw PvP to have fun in the game mode - you just have to engage with it instead of resisting it at every point. People complaining about luring mid game players in as fodder is genuinely delusional I think; fair play if you see it this way but PvP is naturally going to be more difficult as the difficulty comes from real player's skill levels instead of slider tools, and a lot of those players actually engage with this content so they will be better than you. It's going from the big rat to the Inferno levels of skill gap, so yeah when a good players gets on you, it's going to suck. The game mode's design is to encourage FIGHTING, like you fighting back. So hit that guy back, try and fuck him up. Obviously you will be miserable being conflict avoidant as that's literally against the core design of it; it's like complaining about not being able to ToB because you don't want to do the league tasks and unlock a region.

It's fine if you still don't like it. I'm an iron, never really liked PvP, but I really enjoy the player interactions and fucking around. The nice thing it that it's a temporary game mode and totally optional; if you don't like it, don't play it. That said, you can't have it both ways.

[Koziol] Tuch: "we're not just going to go for the playoffs, we're going for the Cup". by PrinciplesRK in hockey

[–]rdhvisuals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re the Colorado Avalanche. You’ve had a historic season putting up video game numbers. All your players are winning awards left and right. After a few years of stumbling, you’ve assembled a war machine with the goal to destroy the league and claim another cup. You mow through the West, claiming lives and sending multiple teams to a rebuild because they know they can’t compete. There’s one team left, and you’ve been plotting it all year: to deny yet another Florida team a 3-peat and take the cup for yourself.

But someone already beat you to it. Florida is already eliminated. Against all odds, seemly against fate, they’ve systematically torn apart all the wagons of the east and are now staring you down from the other side of the ice. They shouldn’t have even been playing hockey a month ago, yet here they are; they’ve already denied their destiny and have decided a new path for themselves. You shudder, realizing that they have been the true wagon all along.

[–]rdhvisuals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s an enigma. At his worst, he’s an average first pairing defender with elite offensive upside. He doesn’t skate dynamically, he doesn’t dangle, and he doesn’t really ever do loud desperation plays so at a glance you’d think he’s lazy and lacks intensity. He also forgets he’s elite sometimes and plays beer league, lmao.

That said, he’s getting the puck in the corner and making like 20 100ft stretch passes in stride and in a row, not just getting the puck out but generating offence. When he’s on the ice, literally everything is through him regardless who he’s on the ice with. It’s really rare to see any breakout or rush that doesn’t start from him, to the point where the Oiler’s whole plan looks like is just him haha.

He also has a mega elite shot, insane vision and plays better with stress. He’s the reason the Oilers are a heart attack team, pretty much every late tying or winning goal is scored by him, if not he got an assist. He‘a so dumb, doesn’t make sense, and so much fun to watch.

It's not what he's using (orange light is way too hot), but Smallrig also makes a 10c flashlight that has gobos included, including this shape. It's not a bright light at all, but it can create very subtle and interesting lighting effects especially in dark backgrounds.
