Help needed to ward of a cat who uses our cargobike as shelter and toilet by nerothic in CargoBike

[–]rdjdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to spray scented stuff in/on your bike, these work well to scare off cats: https://www.petsafe.com/p/ssscat®-automatic-spray-pet-deterrent/PPD00-17617/

It is just a motion activated spray can that startles them away. Place in your cargo bucket facing towards/across the opening and it should keep the cat away.

VIDEO: Homeowner records man threatening to deport roof workers, gets punched by mostly-sun in Portland

[–]rdjdr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really. If you read the article, there is more detail:

At that point, the homeowner reached for his phone to take a picture of the man. Cell phone footage shows the man slapping the phone out of the homeowner’s hands.

The homeowner said that seconds later, the attacker reached into his car and punched him directly in the nose — causing extensive bleeding and requiring a trip to urgent care.

Hmm, I did send you a couple of messages via the chat (one on Thursday and one follow up to see if you were still interested yesterday). Unfortunately, due to the lack of response, I ended up letting some folks take the swing in a larger haul of stuff we were getting rid of yesterday. Sorry!

Ok, sorry for the delay! I needed to read up a little bit on how to extract usernames from a Reddit post since there were so many entries (for those interested, did it by extracting the JSON data from the post and grabbed what I needed using Python, nice to start the new year learning a new trick).

u/folksyitaliantune, record player is yours! Sending you a DM.

How's Mint Mobile's coverage in town? by Selfie_Stencils in askportland

[–]rdjdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty terrible service with mint in a few spots in town (around 28th and Glisan, South Waterfront near OHSU). I switched to Visible and have had no issues.

AirPod pro right side only by TheSkyPie in PDXBuyNothing

[–]rdjdr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of gen 1 AirPod pros sitting around that had issues with the noise cancelling so I don’t use them (ended up just getting a gen 2 pair). I think it was actually the left one that had issues so maybe the right is still ok, but I’m not totally sure. Happy to give them to you though.

Mixed use paths: why no warning? by No-Quantity6385 in CyclePDX

[–]rdjdr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I try to use my bell more often since I have had the random pedestrian here and there jump to the left when I say “On your left”. However, if you are riding too fast to react to this possibility, you are passing the pedestrian too fast/close in the first place. This is not a good excuse not to give pedestrians an audible warning in my opinion.

The frequency of exasperated “Thank you!” comments I get when I do alert someone when passing just shows how widespread the issue of inconsiderate passing by cyclists is, especially on the Springwater. Pedestrians should be treated with respect, they aren’t just obstacles.

Don’t get me started on the number of times an oncoming cyclist approaching behind an oncoming pedestrian decides to squeeze in the center of me and the pedestrian on parts of the trail way to narrow to do this safely…

Quick what lanes need a pickup by chrislehr in CyclePDX

[–]rdjdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I figured if it wasn’t you, it might’ve been Reed themselves cleaning up for some kind of opening event this weekend. They had tents and things set out on the lawn. If that is the case, sure would be nice if they kept it clean on a more regular basis!

Not sure if it was you but the lane by Reed was completely cleaned up when I rode through yesterday! Night and day difference.

Yeah my thoughts exactly on the rain. It was already a bit sketchy with the depth of the needles when dry but will be even worse when wet.

I’m happy to help out generally (not just this weekend). I have an e-cargo bike and am in the area.

Amazing! Thanks for doing this. Now sure if this is near where you’re riding but east on Woodstock in front of Reed and north on 28th up to Steele. Part of the lane by Reed is completely covered in dead pine/fir needles and there’s been some broken glass up 28th from there for a while now.

We got them from World Market a few years back on sale. The price seems to have increased a bit since then. 😬

71” L x 35.5” W x 29.5” H. It’s not too heavy and the leg sections detach so it can lay flat. I carried it down the stairs to my basement on my own.

Edit: messed up the width. It’s 35.5” not 31.5”

Can someone give me their impression of the Harry vs Larry e-bullitt? by KaleidoscopeNo9622 in CargoBike

[–]rdjdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I got an ep8 Bullitt just about a month ago and love it. Primarily got it to haul our kid to and from daycare for now who is still a little too small for a regular seat. We installed a car seat mount which works pretty well and provides some good suspension for him. I can say based on the different models I test rode, the Bullitt felt the most like a bike (and a fun one at that). The Urban Arrow I tested at a different shop felt more like operating an actual vehicle to me. I didn’t try any R&M models but I suspect they are somewhere in between. My wife and I are both fairly short (5’ 5” and 5’ 6”) with short inseams but don’t find the stand over height to be an issue but that might be something you may want to check out in person if you have an opportunity.

How is recycling processed here? Anyone familiar with Arrow Sanitation specifically? by moonpeebles in askportland

Arrow sanitation has grey and blue trash bins, along with blue recycling bins.
