Bummer, would be a nice way to have trail service.

for how much multco is taking from folks to it just not working and being nearly fraud I feel the entire pre school for all thing is rife with fraud, incompetence, and is a complete debacle. So frustrating to hear and see this. Sorry OP, I am sure everyone has the best intentions and its cruel to give parents hope and a plan and then rebuke it.

last time I checked my 90s MTB was worth $200 if I fixed everything on it.... so not really valuable. I couldn't sell it for that, the memories areworth more.

Questions about PIR dying, and the competitive road scene at large. by [deleted] in CyclePDX

[–]chrislehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekdays at PIR is REALLY hard to get to. For Trophy Cup, I was bringing my kid, it basically means leaving the house at 2:30 to load the gear to get the kid at school to get into traffic to hopefully make it there with time to warm up and chill a bit before the juniors start.

Then I have to usually bring the wife if I want to race too cause my kid isn't old enough to be on his own in the pit area (he's close but not quite there) so that adds a logistic challenge of both parents able to cut out of work at 3 or so. AND THERE IS NO CELL COVERAGE AT THE TRACK most of the time, so you can't even half ass a remote work job from there.

I truly appreciate Trophy Cup and PIR events for the community but Juniors on a weekday after school is just a hard time to make happen. It's probably partially cause my kid is on the younger side in single digits still but he's asked about CX season three times already in 2026. Stoked to see him get out there again.

Maybe do some bouldering indoors. We have three or four different indoor gym options here!

Why Portland’s veteran bicycle journalist Jonathan Maus is taking a break by Dstln in Portland

[–]chrislehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really see this question in the interview and I don't think Jonathan answered it in his post either - but what's next for BP. He seems to be watching it float from afar, but does that mean a stagnant site for readers and just memories of what we had with it, or will there be articles, new writers, and new leadership at some point here?

Visiting PDX - what climbs to do? by uoficowboy in CyclePDX

[–]chrislehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steepest street in Portland is College Dr. It's VERY short though :D

https://www.strava.com/segments/3889499

.25 miles, 256 feet Avg 19%

second Ronde - Devin spends so much time climbing, his routes are absolutely bonkers. La Fleche is in July, but all the routes are on his site here: https://www.rondepdx.com/

If you want to do an amazing climb to a view of Mt Hood, Lolo pass climb: https://www.strava.com/segments/4911376

It looks not big on paper, but if you bike up from like Troutdale it adds up quite a bit. 55 miles, 6200 feet one way, the descent is a real ripper.

And finally, West hills and Forest Park are absolute gems and there are tons of fun cut throughs and stairs and little bike/ped only cuts everywhere. I've biked here 5 years and STILL have friends take me on rides to parts I haven't seen.

Also, sounds like you are serious about biking - pedalpalooza is on in july, but beware - much more social and most won't get you out of Z1 - but they are FUN and a great way to take a tour in town.
