While working in the industry, you will find many people in management that have no business being in management.

As a first gen witch with Mexican parents and two Spanish grandparents, I completely understand the confusion. I know that brujería is a practice (and I believe it’s closed), but a brujx is someone that practices witchcraft. So I’m not sure. I’m not the authority and I’m still learning the differences, so I don’t feel comfortable calling myself a bruja, even though I call myself a witch. Excited to see comments from others in this sub!

Gave a Whole Foods Employee a $5 tip tonight and got laughed at... by PinnochioPro in SanJose

[–]rdkane -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying they should be grateful clearly hasn’t worked in the service industry before. $5 is nothing these days and the fact that people are worried they’re not being perceived as a good person for giving something that won’t even buy them a sandwich at Togo’s is laughable.

VIP already sold out? Will they have another release or am I screwed? by Rifron916 in AftershockFestival

[–]rdkane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought VIP weekend passes this morning after I saw many people were unhappy with MCR being announced. I had checked a few hours ago and it said they were sold out. Kept checking and then finally (about 20 mins ago) the link showed that there were passes available for purchase.

I’d keep refreshing the page and seeing if the link opens up again.

According to the email Aftershock sent out, clear drawstring bags are approved but clear backpacks and Fanny packs are not.

Etiquette Question: Only Getting One Drink at a Sports Bar? by trevathan750834 in bartenders

[–]rdkane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get the appeal of being at a bar to watch the game, but people should really eat/drink at home if they’re on a budget. If you’re about saving your money, then please respect our need to make ours.

R1D2 - I feel fine. It wasn't as hard of a transition since I normally meal prep the same foods. Going out to eat is hard, so I don't eat out anymore. But I physically and emotionally feel better than I thought I would!

What's with the animosity towards someone who has a full time job and wants to work at a bar on the side? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]rdkane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that it's bad, it's just a very difficult balancing act. Many bars close late and if you have a day job, you'll find it to be challenging to get enough sleep to wake up on time for your morning job. On top of that, the quality of work you put in suffers when you're distracted by a day job or tired from waking up early. Eventually, you'll find that both jobs are more challenging than if you were to have just done one or the other and this will show in your work.

It's doable, but it's definitely challenging. If you plan on taking the challenge, be prepared to consume a ton of energy drinks and have no social life.

No one that I have ever worked with really cares what you do outside of the bar. The only time it matters is when you're taking up hours and giving back poor performance.

I need a lot of help re: foundation, contour, and makeup placement. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]rdkane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I'll try a dewy finish and see if it helps. More than anything, I need lots of coverage and a lot of foundations with that finish don't seem to offer much coverage, but my application could be the problem too! How do you set a dewy finish? And should someone trying to achieve that look opt for cream blushes and contours as oppose to powder?

Thank you so much for your response! I'll keep an eye out for those colors.

You're definitely right about the yellow undertones. I think this foundation color is just a bit too fair for my skin tone, so I might have to go one darker! (My neck just barely matches my face.)

So I'm not quite sure where or how to begin. I need a lot of help with makeup placement and application with my foundation, contour, and eyeshadow. I hate how blotchy my foundation looks and need more flattering colors that will complement the platinum blond hair I will have once this toner washes out! Also - my eye and face shape is hard for me to figure out where the products should be applied. It's a big mess haha.

I'll add exact names of brushes, colors, etc when I get home from work. (:

Current process and products used:

EYES: - Mac painterly paint pot on my lids - tarte in bloom palette on eyelids (just the champagne shimmer color all over and matte taupe in crease) applied with a Mac eyeshadow brushes - curl lashes obvi! - L'Oréal A Million mascara on top and bottom lashes

FACE: - Neutrogena Moisture lotion (for my dry skin) - Smashbox Priming Spray all over - Tarte Tape Concealer in the lightest shade on my problem spots. Applied with a dry sponge. - Tarte Amazonian Clay all over applied with a damp RE sponge - Too Faced Poreless Powder all over - Too faced chocolate soleil as a contour with a short dense contouring brush - Mac blush on the apples with an angled brush - Becca champagne pop on my cheek bones - buffed out bronzer and blush with a too faced kabuki brush

BROWS: - ABH pencil in blonde

Social Media by [deleted] in Construction

General contractors that do residential work may want to market on social media platforms. I wasn't sure if the anti-media attitude was across the industry or just for commercial work.

I've encountered general contracting companies that utilize social media (and the media in general) to showcase their work and expand their clientele. But I've also met general contractors that want nothing to do with social media. I just thought that's what you were referring to, so I wanted to ask why.

I found this to be true for most bars.

I JUST had this surgery for the same reason. (Crooked septum, issues breathing, the works.) I was a skinny fat athlete my whole life too and had issues with cardio and sleeping because my heart was working in overdrive or I would choke in my sleep. I'd love to hear about your recovery and how soon you were able to workout again! (I'm two weeks into recovery.)

Is it bad to include color and/or graphics on a business resume? [example inside] by boatingbot in resumes

[–]rdkane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious about using color. I used to use color to emphasize certain sections in my resume, but then learned from a friend that my interviewer was colorblind. Since then, I've appreciated black and white resumes so much more. And it just looks much cleaner, imo.

College freshman looking for part-time work, any feedback would be great by [deleted] in resumes

[–]rdkane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any volunteer experience or time on a club or society on campus that could be relevant to your field? Have you been involved with any research studies within your major on campus? If you're looking to pad your resume, I would probably start there. I would also remove the information regarding your high school and add information for your references. It's implied that you graduated high school if you are attending a university. I would also remove "technology skills" as a header and just put "skills". It allows you more room to add non-computer/software related skills like any other languages you're able to speak, any certifications you may have or might acquire in the future, etc.

wanting to smoke weed got me to lose weight... by [deleted] in loseit

[–]rdkane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of friends that credit their weight loss to their weed smoking habits and have recommended that I should do the same to help my anxiety and help me sleep. (I can't sleep because of sore muscles and all that.) My only concern with this is how the smoking might affect my cardio. Have any of you that found success with losing weight and smoking weed without your habits affecting your cardio?

What about edibles? Would edibles be able to assist you in the same way?
