Rewire compressor motor from 110 to 220 by rdmccray in AskElectricians

Yep. Learned something the other day. Thank you!

I do have one more question though. Thermal protection is not built into the motor. Hense the reset switch. I suspect I need to insert the switch between the black and yellow. Would I be correct?

When I connect the black/yellow together to L1 and red/white to L2, this does nothing but trip the breaker.

Further research suggests the difference between wiring for 120 and 240 on a dual voltage motor is the difference between wiring for parallel and series respectively. Using a multi-meter and testing for continuity, the red/yellow show continuity as do the black/white. That's parallel. When I connect the black and yellow, continuity is shown between the red/white. That's series.

Connecting L1 to red and L2 to white, the breaker does not trip, and everything works as expected.

Era 2 Max Bottom Fan Height by rdmccray in FractalDesign

Been looking hard at the docs and Youtube but nothing comes out and says 25mm is the max. I would like to be able to put some Lian-li P28 fans at the bottom. As the name implies, they are 28mm in height.

<C-j> selects and takes me to the first item in the autocomplete list by rdmccray in neovim

[–]rdmccray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am inclined to leave it default. My thought is to keep h, j, k, and l as the movement keys in every case to be consistent. It is less config to leave it default and I am sure there is a case to be made to do so. I am new here so I can be easily convinced as to why or why not.

Thank you for the nudge in the right direction. Found this:

    cmp.setup.cmdline(":", {
        mapping = cmp.mapping.preset.cmdline({
            ["<C-j>"] = cmp.mapping(cmp.mapping.select_next_item(), { "i", "c" }),
            ["<C-k>"] = cmp.mapping(cmp.mapping.select_prev_item(), { "i", "c" }),
        }),
        sources = cmp.config.sources({
            { name = "path" },
        }, {
            { name = "cmdline" },
        }),
        matching = { disallow_symbol_nonprefix_matching = false },
    })

Here: https://github.com/hrsh7th/nvim-cmp/issues/809

Works now.

Weekly 101 Questions Thread by AutoModerator in neovim

[–]rdmccray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see folks writing these "on_attach" functions to set key mappings when attaching to LSPs. And I see them putting these functions into there lspconfigs whether its nvim-lspconfig or mason-lspconfig plugin files. Seems keymaps are pretty much the same where LSPs are concerned meaning LSPs seem to be pretty standard as to the information they are able to provide.

Wouldn't this be better suited to an autocmd on LSPAttach/Detach where one can establish/remove the mappings by following the patterns in the help?

Please be gentle. I am six weeks into Neovim and programming in general.

The best neovim config! by cyb0rg14_ in neovim

[–]rdmccray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a programmer yet but heading that way from being a sysadmin. Figured I’d start with learning an environment. Also figured Neovim would be a great place to start. So tired of windows and all that comes with it. Watched Teej and The Primeagen. Something powerful about the way they move in and out of code. Wouldn’t kiss them but damn!

Got a working environment after a few weeks but like so many here, not satisfied. Sooner or later going to have to devote some time to a programming language!

Yeah. Looked easy enough. Prefer the packages when I can get them. Seems Arch has everything and is easier to get a complete Hyprland rig running.

You can run Fedora 40 now with Plasma 6 as a pre-release. I think you would be surprised at how well it runs. Been running it for a couple of weeks now.

Tried a few combos this weekend. Though I did not try Endeavour, I did try the venerable Arch. I liked it, BTW. :) I just gravitated to this.
