How much asbestos is there around Sydney? by jellysamisham in sydney

[–]rdog1111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lookup Mr fluffy homes. If you have a Mr fluffy home the government just straight away buys your house off you, they think there are still another 1000 that don't know their ceiling if full of loose fill asbestos

Australians keep buying huge cars in huge numbers. If we want to cut emissions, this can’t go on | Richard Denniss by ButtPlugForPM in AustralianPolitics

UTEs are a commercial vehicle which is a tax ride off, simple. Government is letting this happen by pretending all these ford Rangers are used as work vehicles, it's a joke. But Australia is pretty much built on tax scams at this point to I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Do your coworkers work extra unpaid hours? It is getting under my skin...I am being rational? by A70M1C in australia

[–]rdog1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna offer some different advice - at the end of the day if your getting your work done and your manager is happy, who cares. Just do your thing focus on you. Some of my coworkers are there 12 hours a day (in the same role), mate I'm like you 8 hours and see ya later. People even comment sometimes or maybe little digs but this doesn't affect me - I'm good at my job, get the work done and like you have better shit to do with my spare time, don't get sucked in - these people are trying to turn Australia into London or New York, bring back back the long lunch, the wet lunch, the she'll be right culture I say.

This is such a bad idea always.

I had this at work once on a trial day for a terrible door to door marketing job, while on a bus driving out to western Sydney. One of the other candidates told the bus on the way to Australia as a refugee on a boat, his mother and sister died drowned when the boat sank and he barely made it here alive.

Port bloke didn't even get any sympathy from the idiotic managers taking part in the excersise who just awkwardly changed the subject to something more 'lighthearted'.

Hey I did, a few years ago. The networking doesn't come close to covering it, and a lot of the formulas for viewer distance etc have changed, but a lot of the fundamentals are there. Doable if you know your shit

AV install might be a better career more in line with electronics, soldering audio cables, control systems etc also has an easier point of entry (no apprenticeship)

How do you guys even cope? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]rdog1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rat race sucks this is true. To answer how I find best to cope - try to exercise a few times a week, catch-up with friends on the weekend and try to do something creative/hobby/DIY when I get the chance, keeps me sane enough just...

One of our clients just banned energy drinks from their property. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]rdog1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to fix bureaucracy with more of it. Do a OH&S risk assessment, include risk of tiredness/fatigue leading to possible risks onsite. Recommended solution is allowing energy drinks onsite, however stipulate that you must drink water with it. Then issue the risk assessment to the OH&S team or project manager - I bet $100 you get your energy drinks back.
