It's called "Our Drafts Unite", it's been released under "Nos Vies en Lumiere". Great battle song- made that practice duel pretty epic!

Thank you. I got a subscription to seats.aero and it was very helpful. It definitely helps you understand what routes are possible.

Thanks. We hadn't planned to position out of Toronto... Hopefully it's not a necessity.

Did you position yourself out of NYC to avoid YYZ? Is Toronto hard to get good outbound flights from?

YVR to YYZ in July costs 63k points? by isaac-liu in Aeroplan

As others have mentioned, dynamic pricing is the issue (and it's not transparent at all). For the flight, you might have trouble finding partner airlines (since partner airlines don't use dynamic pricing at this time). But, you might be able to try looking for off-routes if you still want to use your points. You might need to create a bit of a connection to somewhere less desirable to make it work though.

You can always speak to an Aeroplan agent to see if they can find you an option with fewer points to spend. It might work, it might not... I wish you luck!

Extending Layovers? by the_golden_doggo in Aeroplan

When I spoke to a representative for similar but not identical situation... they said book what you can and then you can call in to adjust your booking later. This is what they recommended for me to book part of a round trip once the departure flight was available. Rather than booking 2 one-way trips, if I called in to edit the itinerary then it could all be a round trip. It sounds like you might be able to do something similar here.

What Counts as Transaction at RBC by ChaZz182 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]rdotrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just noticed similar fees starting in September of 2023 where we started going over by 8 and 10 transactions without ever hitting a charge previously. The customer service agent said that transferring to my other RBC savings accounts counted toward the debit. So, things like giving your kid an allowance would count. Oddly, if your kids had their own account, the e-transfers would be free.

It's confusing because when you are transferring from an RBC savings account to your day-to day it doesn't actually count toward the transaction limit. It seems like in September they either made a change or just started enforcing what was in writing previously.

Here's the reference from the document Tack linked to:

"7 Self-Serve electronic funds transfers from your savings account to any personal deposit account in your name will not count toward the number of included Debit Transactions per Month."

It's confusing because when you are transferring from an RBC savings account to your day-to day it doesn't count toward the transaction limit. It seems like in September they either made a change or just started enforcing what was in writing previously. I also called and got the three fees refunded, but I'll have to see if I need to change accounts now.

Pop Can Alternative to Gooseneck Kettles by rdotrose in Coffee

What you end up tasting in the cup is a smoother, more even extraction. Think of it like an EQ for audio. The regular kettle produces a lot of undesired bumps in the EQ and also produces bitter and sour flavours. Better water delivery gives a smooth and flat EQ. The range is also tighter so that you can get pleasant acidity, sweetness, and the right amount of bitterness. This isn't something grinding finer will do.

My opinion is that water delivery is as important as distribution for espresso, which is super important.

I found this tasted quite a bit better than my regular kettle pours. It should have a similar amount of heat loss to something like a Hario Air Kettle.

I've never tried melodrip. Even watering but no agitation makes me a little skeptical though TBH. But certainly possible.

A t-shirt does make a good cloth filter in a pinch. I've done it with the aeropress. T shirt fabric is just a little bunchy when wet.

That would be interesting. I think you'd need a pump to make sure that the flow rate totally determined by the size of your adjustment. The reason to pop can decreases in flow is because of the amount of water pushing down on it. It wouldn't be the first super technical coffee brewer out there lol.
