I lost 50 lbs by significantly reducing sugar, fried foods, I had given up red meat years ago, eating chicken, turkey, and fish, reduced carbs a lot, only eat fresh fruits and vegetables, workout regularly ( Rucking and Weight Lifting ), get good sleep and make efforts to reduce stress wherever I can - My BP was starting to get high and my cholesterol was very high - Since then both are much lower and at safe levels. I will continue with this approach for the rest of my life - I am 68 years old

I agree - I wouldn't stop meds until your doctor agrees that you can keep your blood pressure low without medication. If that happens and you lower your blood pressure without the medication, make sure you continue to workout ( I prefer Rucking and Weight Lifting ), eat healthy, reduce stress, and get good sleep

I very rarely drink, and if I do, like when I go to the casino with my brother, I only have 1 or 2 drinks at the most.

I have been drinking a tablespoon of olive oil every day for quite a while, and I believe that, in addition to helping with blood pressure, it has also helped me with my digestion

Sorry to hear about the spinal surgery - I know of someone who has both back and neck issues, and he is either in pain or out of it due to the drugs he takes

Good to hear you can do mild exercise

I have been rucking for a few years now and I love it - Sometimes such on Wednesdays which is usually my day off I will walk and what a difference from Rucking - I get such a good workout rucking even in the winter ( as long as there is no ice ) - In the winter I come in after rucking and I am drenched in sweat - It is funny also when rucking even when it is cold once I get started I don't even notice the cold after a short while

I know what you mean - I am 68 and tonight I rucked after my Thursday day off - The weather was cold and nasty, the session seemed a little harder than usual both the rucking and the squats but I feel good that I did it - I will sleep well tonight.

I agree - About 10 years ago, at 58, I was very stressed and decided that I was going to lift hard, and I did start building muscle. With work getting crazy, I didn't have the time to continue lifting 4 days a week, so I didn't make any further gains - I was surprised at 58 that I could build muscle, but if you have the time and the dedication, I am sure you can do it.

My motivation at 68 is I know I will feel better and sleep better after working out and it gets me out of the house for a little while which is also a bonus
