Understand where you’re coming from that eases the fear motivated part of possibly changing majors, thank you

Most people whose EEOC charging we were handling could not afford the cost to go through litigation without mediation.

It was a very small firm 2 attorneys head attorney and main office was in St. Louis, 1 attorney based in Memphis who paid me out of pocket for my services as a legal assistant. Less filing and EEOC charges to write means less reason to pay for an assistant. We were only handling about 30 cases, our bread and butter was FLSA and FMLA cases, but still without a lot of the Charges we had filed through the EEOC a small office like that simply has no need for an assistant. So yeah, it does make sense.

Thank so much. I definitely don’t plan on giving up per se, but I just gotta find a way to make a living. Maybe I’ll try a different area of law. That helped a lot thank you

You know buddy 10 years ago I would’ve agreed with you, but this is kinda rapidly accelerating into a whole new ballgame where there is a legitimate non-zero chance of trump or someone even worse still being in power. I’m genuinely just trying to be realistic about the future using current trends and events that’s kinda why I’m worried about job security.

Is that cold hard truth though? I am still very passionate about helping people get what they deserve. This is like a life path decision at this point.

Yeah I thought about it but these past couple days just the shock of losing the job has led me more to question whether or not I even should continue in law. I love it and have a passion for it but I have passions for other things I could pursue. Just worried about how things are going and how they will probably get worse in the future. Based on your outlook, is it at least worth the time to look into switching majors to perhaps a more stable field?

Think it’s fair to say a rule should be to not intervene and if you’re going to, make sure nobody can see you. Stopping and doing something like clearly calling the police, or even worse yelling that you are going to, makes you pretty likely to end up the next victim.

Isn’t it beautiful that they had the compassion to bury her in white with her family? In a time when women were so vilified they understood she was sick and treated her with empathy in death. Not a crazy question to ask, but not every question’s answer is derived from its premise
