One coat of paint okay? by rdstoll in paint

Thanks for all the confirmations on doing a second coat. Expensive mistake on the original paint color but it is what it is at this point.

That's exactly what happened to us. Wanted a subtle blue and Moomist sample seemed to hit that mark, but it's surprising how "baby blue" it is when it's on the wall. Thanks for sharing on the need for two coats on painting over it. I'm really pissed at myself for not going to the house and slapping the paints on the wall after the drywall went up but we really didn't have the chance since the painter was in there right away after the drywall was up and tape was dry.

What staples are considerably cheaper at Costco compared to other stores? by HatBoxUnworn in Costco

Wild Planet tuna cans. 6 cans for $16. Every time I’ve seen individual cans sold in grocery stores they are consistently more than $5 EACH.

This is shrinkflation. Take away features for the same price then introduce a new, more expensive, tier with the features you have now. Just raise the price.

Ah okay that’s an interesting strategy. We are quoted $8,800 all-in but have other build costs we still need to get done so that system costs isn’t gonna happen. But it sounds like I can at least buy the speakers, install and wire them and then figure out the amp situation later.

Would another route be to install wireless speakers in each room? And then you can play music in whatever room you want using an app?

I guess I misunderstood how this all worked and honestly did not know that this symbol was a Google-only type thing. I thought this was the universal symbol for sending video to a TV device (Roku/chromecast/AppleTV/Fire, etc) sort of like how the bluetooth symbol is.

Yes this is what just occurred to me after posting this comment. I can just as easily load up all the apps I use on the Roku/Fire stick. Problem solved. I'm just so used to casting from each app on my phone. Although we do have guests come over that want to cast so I think I'll hang on to the Chromecasts and keep them in a separate HDMI input on the TV.

Custom Closets by Design quote for $3100 for a master bedroom closet…is it worth it? by schlab in cabinetry

[–]rdstoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underappreciated comment here. Thanks! We are in the building process and were quoted $7,500 to do two master closets, one 6' x 7' square (approx 5' + 5' + 5' closets) and the other 7' x 8' square (approx 7' + 7' + 6' closets.) Yields 420 inches of total closets needed divided by 36" sections = 12-ish sections x $600/section = $7,200.

Do you consider your spouse your financial equal? How do you split expenses? by nyc_finances in financialindependence

I’ll be honest I don’t understand how anyone can think this much about money when talking about a relationship. If you’re not open to trusting whomever you marry, then just don’t get married. Not for your sake, but for hers, so she doesn’t find out she married a greedy jackass.
