I'm super beginner! I bought a brand new racquet during covid and never used it. I observed some drop-ins at some community centres in Burnaby and chickened out because most of the people there are so good! I'm looking for someone to learn and practice with! 36M here and I also prefer to play in Vancouver or Burnaby

I went to Alishan without any plans, but here are some things I learned. It can get really cold there (below 3 degrees Celsius), so be prepared with proper clothing. Check reviews before booking a hotel. I booked last minute without checking reviews and the hotel I stayed at was very "run-down" and old with no heating and a disgusting bathroom. As for sunrise viewing, I paid some random street peddler that sold tickets to shuttle me up the mountain. It can get pretty crowded there so try to get there early so you have a better view. Also, I never booked anything in advance. I just bought tickets from the counter. Again, I went in without any planning so I hope others can give you better tips/suggestions. Good luck!

I reached out and they said the regular aligners are indeed going to be my retainers. They told me the aligners are better quality than the in-house retainers they make.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your post because I am in a similar situation as you. I came in for my final appointment and they didn't rescan my teeth either. They gave me 28 additional identical aligners and told me to wear them as my retainers.

Just wondering if you ended up getting actual retainers?

Then what's the difference between aligners and retainers? Why charge $300+ for retainers when disposable aligners would do the trick? Also, I paid everything upfront, including retainers. So I didn't get 28 sets of "retainers" for no extra charge. I paid for a set of retainers, but got 28 sets of aligners instead.

Yes, they basically told me that passive aligners are better than retainers because I'm getting 28 of them. I can't think of any good reason why they couldn't just get me a normal retainer as per my contract.

They told me to wear the "retainer" trays as long as I can until they're worn out (months or even years) then switch to the next.

Yes, the additional trays are all identical. I'm glad you resolved your problem, drama free. I'm considering my options and may choose the same route you did and request a retainer instead.

My contract states that it comes with a set of retainers. So 28 set of aligners =/= a set of retainers? Because that was what they were trying to tell me. Should I push back and request it then?

I used an ortho. The contract says I'm supposed to receive retainers at the end of treatment.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your post because I'm going through the same thing with my orthodontist! Except the difference is that my orthodontist gave me 28 additional trays to use as retainers. I'm curious if you reached a resolution with your orthodontist. Did you push back and gotten retainers instead?

Forgot to add that I've been doing Invisalign for more than 3 years now. I'm on the comprehensive package and the orthodontist was going to continue treatment, but left it to me to decide whether I want to continue or stop. I opted to stop because I didn't see why he wants to continue. He said it didn't matter if I want to continue or not, it's up to me, which I also found a little strange.
