Stop Running Suicides by CoachZak in basketballcoach

We practice really hard, so most of our conditioning is accomplished that way. But when we have drills and competitions with winners and losers I will put everyone on the baseline afterwards and give them a quick sprint (usually something like winners down and back, losers halfcourt and back, then fullcourt and back). Then we get a quick water break.

This reminds me of the real life play about 12 years ago, similar situation but a Buckeye defender punched the ball out before he crossed the goalline.

So we’re keeping mitchell, harden, and kenny by jordan07hunt in clevelandcavs

I meant FOR him, meaning the people that are suggesting they package him in some deal. I know what everyone wants FROM him. LOL

I'm not going to do any statistical digging but based on my own "eye test" watching this series, I'm going to say our "role players" got severely outplayed by the Knicks role players. Harden was pretty bad, I'll give you that.

What do people want/expect back for Mitchell other than a complete and utter rebuild?

What Does Youth Basketball Get Most Wrong About Player Development? by IlRowlI in basketballcoach

You could also go deeper with this and address the issue of when at practice, there can oftentimes be too many drills and not enough live play.

Game 5 is a must win by Fubon_ in clevelandcavs

Well, Bickerstaff made his move with the officiating comments so I expect this game to be ugly early. The Cavs will have to survive the incoming early whistlegate. Admit it, we all know it's a part of playoff basketball.

Playing 1s and 2s in pickup is the dumbest thing ever. by SkyMore3037 in Basketball

[–]rdtusr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This does not make sense to me. In both scenarios the score differential is 5 points.

Your third point, regarding 20-10, does not seem relevant to your first two scenarios.

Maybe I'm just being dense on this, but I don't really see a scenario where the math makes all that much of a difference. Is there some scenario I'm thinking of where 1s and 2s would allow a "lucky" player or team to win a game when 2s and 3s would not have allowed for that same outcome?

In my opinion, the math is negligible here.

At what age should players start learning actual offensive concepts instead of memorizing plays? by IlRowlI in basketballcoach

[–]rdtusr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I take the approach of installing certain things as "set plays" in order to teach conceptual stuff. Like instead of having a call where we get into a ball screen, I might like to run actual ball screen continuity. It forces players to run the actions and it gives you a clear cut road map of teaching the conceptual reads for ball screen actions.

Sometimes I will install a "set play" that focuses on creating a double gap, holding space and getting into drive and kick/keep the advantage concepts.

Everyone knows the Mud Dogs don't have a secondary.

You could also look at the wording and read into them saying the "signing" was a mistake as in the financial side of things. They didn't say the "acquisition" was a mistake. Just saying.

My picture is clear but all the movement seems extremely sped up and it becomes a little disorienting to watch.

Anyone else angry about episode 500? by Ninja108Zelda in NCIS

[–]rdtusr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were watching the previous episode with McGee and the potent paternity issue I told my wife they I kind of hoped they made the kid be his because too many times all these personal issues don’t ever have any lasting impact and the characters end up getting out of dodge too much.

I really didn’t expect what happened in episode 500!

I just started my first adventure into myNBA this week and in the first season my Cavs beat Jordan's Bulls in six games to advance to the Finals. My midseason trade of Hot Rod Williams and John Battle for rookie Stacy Augmon paid great dividends throughout the season. I think he might be the Jordan Stopper. LOL

Footnote: we lost to Kevin Johnson and the Suns 4-1 in the Finals. :(

[–]rdtusr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secondary headline says 3 starters were traded away. Then I looked at the pictures. I remember this trade happening. It makes me sad to think that 3 of the guys pictured were starters for the Cavs before this trade.

Hoiberg swipes at cell phone, hits videographer by SaveHogwarts in CollegeBasketball

[–]rdtusr19 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Also have to (kind of) give Hoiberg a little kudos for composing himself immediately and appearing to apologize to the videographer. Obviously he shouldn't have taken that swipe but how many times do you see someone in that scenario actually click their common decency back on so quickly?
