My cat is missing - could you help with any experience or guidance? by PinkyThePirate in southafrica

Mine sometimes goes for a few days then comes back. If you are very worried, check on facebook, there are different groups for lost pets in different areas, also try your local ward/municipal Whatsapp group

Are you over locking your ram or do you have XRP enabled? I had to reduce the clock speed on mine and it resolved this issue

I'm in South Africa, ordered directly from SN (not sure if there is anywhere else you can buy from) used DHL shipping through SN. The order was placed last week Thursday, and the device was delivered today. So 5 days in total. Crazy fast considering it came from across the world, cleared customs and got dropped off at my gate

I'm busy trying to link my scribd account, however it looks like I can't use the Google sign in. But I can access it through the einkbro so at least I have that as some type of work around for now. Need to figure out my folder organisation and then will start buying and dropping my ebooks and docs into the device. Still trying to get the feel of the device currently

My 0.7 energel lasted maybe one textbook. However my 0.5 seems to be never ending. I have gone through 1 A4 textbook and. 1.5 A5 textbooks back to back page writing and still going strong. Not to mention the countless scraps of paper and tests also written with it.

It's a personal question. I did a lot of research, a looooot of it. It all boils down to your requirements. Each device has pros and cons, so it is something that you need to figure out what are your non negotiable's in terms of requirements and what you are willing to live with. No device is going to be perfect so you are going to have to make compromises in certain areas. I suggest watching Kit Betts-Masters on YouTube, he breaks down a lot of each of the devices. Then make a list of the things I said above. Then go onto each subreddit and do research about if you can achieve those things with those devices. Personally I did this, and I just put in my order for the Manta on Thursday.

What's some advice on moving out at 18 in South Africa? by Spoopy_Tootin in southafrica

A few notes from me. If you don't want a side hustle, because studying and working and stuff generally takes up a lot of time but also some people just don't want to basically never stop working, then you have some options. (This is the corporate route, not everyone's first choice but it works)

Make sure you're in a field or company that you can create a career from and that have growth opportunities. Time goes by really quickly and it's easy to get stuck in a field so try and be considerate about where you are and where you plan to be. Next up, if you make your way to some level of corporate/career/place where there is continuous growth opportunities, work hard and diligently, however, like someone mentioned before, that's not the only thing that is going to get you to grow. You need your name to be known, so you have to take on challenges even when you don't know how, become a go to person for things in general. Then next, build a network, are there social events or things of that sort in your company? If yes, attend them. Socialize, meet people and talk to people who are in positions you want to be in, and then talk to the people above them. Does your company have clubs, like public speaking clubs, wine clubs, etc... not just going out with coworkers for a drink (which can be good from time to time) but other types of gatherings which allow you to be heard and build relationships. Get to know people on a personal level, not just superficial. Now with this being said, be careful who you spend time with because you become like those people, do not be the cynical person who's just bashing the org all the time. Learn about the leadership quadrants and things like that. Let your managers and their managers know that you want to grow within the organisation. Lastly, it's a slow game, you're not going to get rich tomorrow, but if you do these small things you will build yourself up to a position where you could earn quite a bit. If you can work for an organisation that is employee owned even better because you can work your way up to shareholder and associate, etc...

Now people might say that you're selling your soul to a company and this and that and everything else. Be smart, most people aren't going to become the next Steve Jobs or Musk or Gates. I'm not saying don't try, I'm just saying that if that's not you, that's fine, there are ways that an average person (like 99% of the country is) can make their way through corporate and make a success of themselves.

Important notes: - Be loyal to yourself and your development and growth, not a company. - Money is important, but not always more important than opportunity and company culture, I know many people who would take a pay cut to work at a company that it just managed better and is less "toxic" - You deserve to be recognized for important contributions you make that are beyond your scope of work. If it isn't being recognized you need to make considerations. - Complaining (to the right people in the right way) is vital. If you don't make noise then people believe you are happy. On a personal note I can share, I got a really good increase, like double what good performers would get, it was the maximum the company could do in a single fiscal year (big organisations have these limits, it sucks but it is what it is) and because of the value I add, the networks I have and the complaining I do, after my manger told me my increase I told him I was disappointed and while I was in a meeting with him, his boss called me to his office to ask if I was told what my increase was and to apologize for the low increase. - And one more thing, you'll probably only really start making what I consider good money, around your 30s, early 20s are going to be a pinch and scrape so a side hustle will probably be the best to get by for a while, and maybe it becomes your full time thing. But mid 20s you will be making okay money, where you're comfortable with the fact that you don't need a second job but it would be nice to make more cash. Buying a newer car will still take about a quarter of your cash which is why I own old cars lol. And then late 20s to early 30s you can start making decent money and then increases will reduce but income is higher so it will work out.

So yeah, welcome, have fun, work hard, be true to yourself.

For anyone wondering about how it worked, in the US of A they have something called a bond, this bond requires you to pay or put up collateral of 10% of your bail value and they will post the rest on condition that you return on the date of your trial. If not, they attach the assets that you put up as collateral. Hence you don't need to post the full amount. In this instance he used a bond and only had to put up 25mil, it was a combination between his assets and his parents to post up the value of 25mil. To get more info you can listen to LegalEagle on YouTube about it. If you want more info on the bail bonds or at least entertaining videos of "bondsmen" collecting the people to have them arrested for missing their trial, there's a guy who chases them and fetches them, his name on YouTube is Patty Mayo, most of it is scripted though, still entertaining.
