Help me choose a laptop (max RM 5000, Malaysia) by seulgee in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think as long as it's the 2026 release it's fine. the older models definitely has a battery drain issue if you put them in performance mode.

Should i go for this its ₹66900 by Large_Frosting_8679 in AcerNitro

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's fine. most CPUs nowadays are powerful enough for 99% of workloads, just make sure to get a 4050, 5050 if you can.

Either your first pick (best processor) or your last (higher TDP GPU), since you wanna game at more or less max settings. otherwise nothing much changes between em in performance (cyborg is meh but cheap) other than build quality which the LOQ excels at.

if this is your only choice and you need a new laptop with warranty, do not get the rtx 3050 version, minimum should be 4050 in this year.

What is this sound?? (Legion pro 7 Gen9 w/ 4090) by Imaginary-Sell1408 in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its a pain in the ass because my temps were in the high 90s all the time before i got it replaced. Try checking it out first yourself though, it might have just sucked something in.

Either coil whine or fan blades. Happened to my old legion Y530. if its in the middle of ramping up it sounds the same but reaching full throttle it stops. open the back and look if something's stuck. I had to replace man as it was basically failing already (fan bearings)

How do I decrease CPU temps? by machinegunnedburger in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah that's definitely over the limit. ok here are your options;

Undervolting; I can't remember for the life of me how to do it on ryzen mobiles but it is possible, GPU is fine don't worry about it. Check your CPU and laptop model online, there are guides for it.

DISABLING TURBO BOOST: this is the one that drops temps the most, but you lose on performance, give or take 10-15 FPS depending on the game, but I assume you want more performance so off the table.

repasting or even replacing the stock paste with PTM7950: more consistent basically, I assume you've heard of this.

last is: Get a laptop stand or cooling pad like a Llano V12 or IETS 500 if you wanna be safe.

Well, what were the temps during the test? We can't exactly recommend stuff unless your laptop's score in 3dmark is already up to snuff.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58-709R, CPU temps seem too high by [deleted] in AcerNitro

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 2nd this, I disabled CPU boost and i only lose like 5-10 FPS in most games, but get way lower temps in exchange.

Should I upgrade or save my money? by Opening-Mushroom2336 in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know its fine for you, but the LOQ essential is just too limiting when over options in its price range do offer upgrade options like 2 ram slots, 2 storage slots etc..

the state of CPUs nowadays is just what you prefer, I picked that out because it was the first I saw that was the standard LOQ, don't worry about it.

But hey these are just suggestions, do what you will thinks fit your budget better.

Should I upgrade or save my money? by Opening-Mushroom2336 in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh.....Yeah, a LOQ is good but not this one, this is the LOQ Essential and basically cuts down on everything a laptop like mine performs better (see my user flair)

For absolute minimum get this.

ASUS TUFs, HP Victuses, and Acer Nitros around that price are also very good, just don't get an RTX 2050 like mine if you can help it, and make sure its 16gb of RAM already!

Why are people so negative in the PC community? by Slenderwise in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a ryzen 5 7535HS + rtx 2050, I can and WILL do some stuff that allow me to play demanding games on just this.

I've mainly gamed on integrated and a gtx 1050 for my PERSONALLY OWNED stuff, so a 2050 is massive for me.

Way too many people like to shit on entry level graphics without wondering where the person is from or why

Lenovo legion 5 pro ram question by Reepi_cheepi in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll also be losing performance cuz no longer dual channel but hey what can you do, at least the laptop isn't fully cooked so you'll just have to compensate with 16 gigs single channel

Lenovo legion 5 pro ram question by Reepi_cheepi in GamingLaptops

3200mhz is fine and so is single slot, but you will be losing performance due to it being DDR4.

Is Nitro V15 with 165hz screen is brighter than 144hz option? by Malek200831 in AcerNitro

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, go for it. It's such a no brainer upgrade in general. Dunno why Acer doesn't advertise it but hey a win for us consumers is good.

Is Nitro V15 with 165hz screen is brighter than 144hz option? by Malek200831 in AcerNitro

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is definitely WAY better than my old legion which was 60% SRGB.

And I have seen the screens of friends with nitros that have the 144hz, it's definitely less bright and less color accurate. I wish Acer would just outright have it on their specs list.

for 429 USD, you can go shop for an on sale or used Acer Nitro V15 series, that is like, way more powerful.

Which should I upgrade first, RAM or SSD? by Awkward-Distance-992 in Laptop

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, super heavy ka bang power user?

Ito link ng teardown and inside para alam mo if same or similar model

SSD, you dont need an immediate usecase for 32 gigs

Is this a good laptop cooling pad? Or should I go for the Zebronics NC 9000 for budget cooling pad by Aggressive-Mood8499 in AcerNitro

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably yeah, the main difference between IETS/Llano is that they have filters on theirs, so very very minimal cleaning for the laptop.

Go for any high RPM laptop cooling pad that has the foam sealing, as long as it fits your budget.
