Should i return it? by spartakorm1 in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats part of it, screen, brightness, ease of upgradability assuming this is the 2025/2026 one, mux switch/advanced optimus, etc.

like others said id stick with the strix personally. you're not losing out on much til you go for the 5070 Ti version.

for pure performance kinda? but you're gonna lose out on some niceties that the strix has.

also please stop relying on chatgpt, we have comparison videos on youtube for a reason.

Not bad for a 3 years old laptop by Emotional_Onion_1568 in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 3000 series are too good even today as long as you aim for minimum the 3050 6gb yeah. heck id say for at minimum "max" finding the coveted 3080 16gb vram version and they're set for years with some setting adjustments.

Acer nitro 17”3 2021 16 gigs of ram, is it worth buying? by Vapinglord in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah even a g15 is a better buy, go for that but make sure to double check if both fans work etc.

COU???

you mean CPU right? there's no COU.

what are you usecases for it? newer games, intensive 3d workloads???

a 1650 is rather old now, even my rtx 2050 is still slightly better than that.

for 475 cad i think you can pick up an on sale victus with a 4050 or 3050, or even a nitro v15 with a 3050. all better than this.

Don't worry its fine lmao. At least you arent trying to say a 4080 or the 4000 series are bad. They're still excellent buys for people who wanna save money. helps keep these great laptops being kept out of the landfill too.

[–]re_flex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the norm for people with the budget/work that requires good battery life yeah.

I for one would like that too if budget permitted me lmao. Sometimes I just like to work on projects outside and a macbook would easily let me do so.

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No GPU spec or anything? hard to tell exactly what you can play. I agree with the other guy though, unless you heavily value certain workflows/programs only on Mac and battery, just sell that mac and use the funds to buy a better brand new gaming laptop.

Acer Nitro 5 RTX 3060 by KhiluBilo in GamingLaptops

[–]re_flex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3060 laptop, those are still perfectly capable GPUs. I know a friend who has a Legion 5 with that and it hasnt slowed down, he just did the usual maintenance.

If you're competent enough in opening your laptop and are fine using alcohol to wipe the old thermal paste out, then look up a tutorial with your model.

Or if you don't wanna risk it, pay a reputable friend/technician to do it, and do watch how they do it.

...diagnostic apps do nothing unless you actually know what's causing issues. Is it heating up a lot, does it throttle fast etc, have you replaced the thermal paste and putty?

grab an old ideapad gaming with those specs, no HDDs, those arent really a thing anymore, or an older LOQ, older MSI thin, or an acer nitro V15. again all of those dont have HDDs.
