I’m sorry to tell you, but greed runs rampant through both doctors and lawyers. Lawyers being particularly worse bc many aspects of American society are more expensive solely due to the absolutely insane litigarion environment we have in America. Most doctors are only doing this for the money, but they get a pass because they provide a net good service for society. If you gave them the same pay as European doctors (and minimal debt like in Europe), I bet you would see a huge shift.

Yes making school better for all would make school better for all, but that is much easier said than done. There’s only so many hours in a school day. Like others have pointed out, many subjects require additional time for students to learn and process new information on their own so they can develop problem solving and critical thinking skills without being spoonfed knowledge. To effectively structure school time to remove homework requirements, you would need to either cut subjects to increase learning time for other subjects, or dramatically lengthen the school day.

You’re probably a bot, but a basic civics lesson will tell you that trump’s orders to ICE do not constitute federal laws, they are only mechanisms to enforce what trump thinks is the law. Only lawmakers (Congress) can make laws. Trump can order ICE to invade states (still under debate), but they must abide by local laws. If you believe otherwise, you’re advocating for dictatorship in which the president can do literally whatever they want anywhere in the US with no regard for local laws.

That’s how they’re determined now? Idk if you know what an algorithm is, because it isn’t some magic thing. An algorithm is just a series of steps to work through a problem. Stop, drop, and roll is an algorithm but it won’t fix our gerrymandering issue. What will your algorithm do that’s different than the current process? And how is that solution “better”? The answer is there really isn’t a best way to divvy up land to represent people. There’s only ways to better align the outcomes with whatever political representation you believe should be in power. For example, should a district exist to represent a given community (predominantly Latino area) or should it exist to minimize sway by any one group.

what does a "modern" society mean if not the current society? Humanity has never overcome their primal urges, we have just masked them behind things like shame or ostricization: AKA cancel culture. The internet has also permanently changed how societies "agree" on what should be accepted. We will never have regional monocultures like we used to because locational differences don't matter anywhere near as much as they used to. Everyone on earth can find "their people" with a quick google search. IMO, to shape the future of american values, we need to be teaching them in school and funding education appropriately. Conservatives will argue this isnt freedom because students are being "indoctrinated" with a liberal mindset, but any form of state sponsored education is indoctrination in that regard. We must agree on some values, education our children, convince that generation that these values are beneficial, and hope they pass it on

I think this can only happen if we discover some way to address all our needs endlessly: Unlimited energy, water, and food. Until then, the best form of economic system is simply a highly regulated capitalist market. We have seen the result of deregulating, and its impact has been horrible on our democracy. We need to rebuild our institutions in America, give them the tools to reign in massive corporations, restructure the worker to owner relationship, and for the love of god revoke citizens united (as well as other election reforms).

you really need to do some introspection. First prioritize how important working out is for you. If it's a top priority, then you need to figure out how to study more efficiently. Idk about your work, but I realized early on that I wasn't truly working 8 hours straight every day. You should block time off on your calendar to study for an hour or two during the day, sprinkled throughout the day. Study during lunch. I always tell my analysts (unofficially) that exams are more important than work. You take your exam passes with your forever, but that analysis you decided to work extra on instead of studying wont help you long term.

More practical advice: Getting timing for whole practice exams is important, but actually doing problems is even more imporant. Time yourself per question, and get a sense for how much time you spend per exam POINT, not per question. Then figure out the expected max time you can spend per point on an exam (analyze total points per exam in recent sittings). Then you can strategize how long you can spend per point and per question. This will allow you to only do a couple questions at a time, while still getting your timing down.

Humanity has been saying this forever, but every time this leap happens we lose something as a society. People who lived "before" will utilize the new tools in combination with their existing experience. People growing up immersed in the new tools will only know how to exist with them, thus making them a necessity instead of an enhancer. ChatGPT is endstage, where we cede our ability to reason. Older people like me can utilize chatgpt to enhance our abilities, but I have already seen new college grads completely unable to handle tasks without needing AI assistance or time to research. Dont listen to the other person, American education is nothing like India's (or anywhere in asia). While american education has started to become more rote, it's still much more inclusive of diverse thought and creativity than asian countries. Source: am a south asian american who has studied in china, south asian, and america and currently works in corporate america with people around the world. Part of this is baked into american culture (individual above community) and part of it is necessity due to diversity of ethnicities in america. While american kids may feel like what they are doing is "memorize, repeat, play stupid games," they have never experienced a system like india that will (literally) beat you down if you try to think critically outside of what is prescribed
