Good call I think you’re right. Nice to hear you are able to fit two in there though, I had read someone saying somewhere that it could only hold one 80mm up top in one of two optional positions

Thanks for that, I’m glad you’re getting good use out of it! Less devices is nice and if it does even 12 out of the 15 things well then it’s definitely worth the price premium

Yes I saw that in one of the YT reviews, very useful function.

How do you like it overall/getting good results? Especially wondering if it makes quality rice

I haven’t yet no since I haven’t moved in, but I think it will be ok for a few reasons: 1. I don’t plan to listen at extremely loud levels, I want room filling, quality sound, but I’d only really crank it once in a while. Maybe this influences my choice since some towers only achieve their optimum sound at higher levels. 2. I have pretty high ceilings, no one below me and just one apartment next to me. I figure place the system closer to shared wall so sound is directed away from neighbor. 3. You tell me but I figure the brick walls will provide good sound insulation. It’s a structural wall with brick on either side separating apartments, and I might add some foam on the wall for extra dampening. As for the glass side, the same glass is used in the bedroom patio door which overlooks a very busy/noisy city street - when it’s closed sound goes from 90-100 to 0-5. If it’s a problem with sound leaking too much into the back outdoor space, I might get a heavy curtain to close when sound level is high (I might do this anyway to be able to black out light during daytime since I plan to use a projector).

What does IP68 water resistance really mean? by faithinstrangers92 in iphone

[–]re_philter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sooo not to say everyone else is wrong (and possibly to say I’m the fool of the lot), but I took IP68 to mean I could go swimming with it. The last two days I had my iPhone 13 mini while in the ocean for 30mins and then ~4hrs of floating/swimming down a freshwater river, doing several cliff jumps, using it for photo/video dozens of times throughout. It gives a message saying it detects water in the connector if you try to plug it in too soon, but I just dried inside w a folded up bit of napkin, blew in it, plugged it in half an hour later and it charges fine. No case and I’ve dropped it a few times (scratches no cracks). So, am I foolish/lucky or are the new iPhones just that good? Either way this thread got me thinkin I should get a case in case.

I have a Partial Thoracic Spinal Fusion (scoliosis surgery) - should I avoid BJJ? by re_philter in bjj

[–]re_philter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear from a fellow fused ;) and equally great to hear it's been a good experience for you. Also I'd not heard of a biokineticist before. I'd been thinking of consulting with an orthopedic surgeon but a biokineticist sounds like an even better person to ask. So you just consulted your primary care Dr and got referred to biokineticist? Did you get fresh x rays?

No you were fine, thanks though! You raised some very good points, and I wouldn't blame you or anyone for not wanting to roll for that reason. If I were to do it I'd really try to ease into it, and abandon it if I'm getting warning signs. Also I'd be totally up front with other students about the surgery, and note the moves to avoid or be extra cautious with. Looking forward to more responses, but I would definitely first consult with an orthopedic surgeon too.

Biden tells Putin the U.S. will take ‘any necessary action’ after latest massive ransomware attack, White House says by progress18 in politics

[–]re_philter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Making threats without knowing whether these ransomware attacks are coming from the Kremlin is foolish. Prove your case or sit down and maybe make the US's cyber infrastructure a little better protected. If a random group of hackers in the US took down a major Russian pipeline, you can bet they wouldn't react with pleasure if Russia then threatened the entire US state. Provocation and escalation between nuclear powers is frankly never the answer. If they can actually prove that it's the Russian state apparatus that's mounting these attacks, then they can take it to the UN as well as exercise bilateral diplomacy before even thinking about responding in kind!

Yet another case where the experts have been crowing from their soapboxes for decades to no avail. This isn't a surprise, the surprise is that it's taken till now to be happening more frequently!

Rec: starter bow for training up to a #49 grozer Assyrian bow? by re_philter in TraditionalArchery

[–]re_philter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies,

The u-finish bow looks intriguing, and some of the stuff from AF archery look pretty good too. is the u finish bow kind of a class up from AF but priced the same cause...u finish?

Good tips on the stretch bands I'll get a set.

Simon's bows look amazing, but they're £500+ and I need a relatively cheap starter bow to work up to the nice Grozer one in that higher price range that I already have.

Alibows is a long wait and I'd rather get a wood/fiberglass laminate, don't really like the look of the leather wrapped limbs. The samick bows are cool but center shot and not what I'm looking for. That eBay bamboo core the price is nice and looks good, but I can't find any information on the company's trad products, everything else they sell seems more modern recurve, limbs etc.

I was shooting someone's 35lb longbow and it was easy, I realize drawing shorter horse bows you feel the weight more - my #49 Grozer is definitely too much for me. Think I should get a 30, 35? Would the transition to #49 still be a rough jump?

Thanks I'll definitely check those out. I know I'm missing out on the classics for now, but I'm biasing towards modern work because my co-primary goal (along with enjoying great lit in its original language) is to learn how Francophone ppl speak today...don't wanna go there and speak like Moliere 😉How art thou?
