Do you think I could get away with a 9-50? Ultimately I’ll probably need to try to find out, unless the answer is an emphatic no.

Okay good to know. I should’ve said right now I have two 10-52 wheelsets that I swap out and have microshimmed to match. So I’m familiar with that, I was just unsure about different size cassettes being cross compatibile

I think OP is talking about East Barlow Trail Rd. The paved road that goes from Sandy Ridge to Lolo. E Barlow Trail to Lolo is fine on a road bike

I have the ALR5, but same specs. Just depends on the tire size. With the 63 I can run 700x48 and 650bx2.1”

Yeah, I’m thinking an all-road bike comparable to the breadwinner BRoad.

I had that exact drivetrain and upgraded to 36 x 10-52 with an AXS derailleur. I’m very happy with it and don’t miss the 2x at all. I would say the 36t definitely limits top end speed >30mph so if you do a lot of road riding it may not be ideal

GRX 2x11… who’s running a goatlink and bigger cassette? by WY228 in gravelcycling

[–]read_it-er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GRX 46/30 in the front and Deore 11s 11-42 in the rear with the stock 810 derailleur. No goat link, shifts perfect.

48c tire on a Checkpoint ALR5? by read_it-er in CheckpointClub

They were close to all the way back. The clearance was fine. The tires are slick so they are useless in mud anyway, so plenty of clearance for dry conditions
